Daytona Cobra Kit
Hey Guys
I am new to the forum and am looking to start on my first replica. I have owned and restored Mustangs for a number of years and am now keen to build my own car.
I am located in Melbourne, Australia and would be interested in knowing if there are any Daytona Cobra kit manufacturers in Australia. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hey mate... have a look at Superformance Daytona - imported by CTC in the Gipsland direction (Garrett where are they??)
There is also the guy from Motec who is producing Daytona replica's... not sure of his name.
There is also Harrison which is discussed in the thread 'Daytona' on the Aussie front page in case you missed that.
I personally would get a Motec one if I was... his performance at Targa & the Mt Buller Hill Climb speak louder than words.
Most of them are up around $100K though...
Best of luck.
Todd

That's Rex Broadbent's beast that you are refering to Tod.
Check out this link for a little info: Broadbent Daytona
You can probably put down some of his cars success to the mighty LS1 undr the hood
Cheers

Mike, the car was originally done by the guy from Motec I'm sure...
I read in Unique cars from March maybe (has the 30's Caddy on the cover) that they have a small number being produced with the 6.0 Gen2 motor I think... the article shows a car with blue & white stripes - the car has the same HSSS plate on it too.

edit - here it is in blue.. maybe they have done the old Shelby trick of painting the car up in differnt colors to fool the punters into thinking there are more of them...
This is from the 2004 run.

Yep you are right Todd, I believe Rex is the owner of MOTEC.
I found a pic on the web a while back of the blue and orange car sitting side by side so there is at least 2 of them. Orange car looks a bit rough round the edges. Maybe it's the test mule.
Cheers

Thanks for all the information - I am actually waiting for Richard Bendell to get back for overseas - I think he founded MoTec.
In the meantime, I will follow-up the other guys.

You are correct Ivan...
I think Rex is just the professional driver.
Unless the two cars have HSSS & HSSSS numberplates, they are both using the same rego there was a car at the GP two years ago that had two MoTec dashes in it for Targa, then the one in Unique Cars had a period looking dash...
With the chassis from Spectrum - I would say this thing would really perform!

Richard is the owner builder of these beasts. I saw one a few years back in a workshop in Melbourne.
As for the price, I think 100K is short by a factor of 2 at least. The car I saw had about 100K in the Engine/Trasnmission and Management sytstems!!!
Looks good though

There was an article in Unique Cars (March ed maybe) that stated that they were $100,000 for the standard set up or $135,000 with Kevlar body and racing set up)
So much for Sth African slave labour being cheaper
