Aero Screens
Hello again to everyone.
I know I have asked this before and after alot of searching I have come to dead ends everywhere.
Does anyone know where I can get a aero screen for a right hand drive car?
I know they are available somewhere as I have seen 1 fitted to Ian Prettys Cobra on SBS.
Does anyone know where he scored his from or know how to contact him?
I am seriosly contemplating useing aero screen only (much to Ronda's angst) I have told here not to smile.
Thanks agian and hope to here from someone.

I hope you and Ronda like your nutrition in small doses.
Takes a lot of bugs to get a decent meal.

Dave,
I drove around without a screen for a bit to rego. before I had finished it was enough to make me wonder if building a cobra was a good idea!! I guess an aero screen would give you some protection but I think Ronda would enjoy her cobra experience onlt yhr once not to mention removing the bugs form her teeth. You could knock one up out of 4mm clear acyrlic without to much trouble. Just lay it out in the midday sun up there and mould it to the shape you want

Aero screen
Boxhead I agree with Todd, I reckon you could make one of them fairly easily.
Cheers,

Bugs are one thing, picking a decent sized stone out of your eye socket another...
Maybe keep you options open and have an interchange system..

Cameron, I'm starting to worry about you.
Interchange between stones or Bugs is a bit much isn't it?.

Boxhead,
Dont go with the aero screen on the street. I went through a swarm of grass hoppers on the way to the Cobra Fest and even with a full screen I had grass hopper legs and guts on me. My daughter was not impressed.
The Aero would work well on the track but if you got hit in the head by a low flying galah at the speeds you are able to run in NT any small animal, bird etc hitting you is not going to be good.
Maybe you should consider standard screen but rake it back a bit more like the Homebush cars.
You also need full screen for the Nationals.
Phil

Hi Boxhead,
I've got a wind deflector on my Clubman 7. It's a great feeling
driving with a deflector, kinda like riding a motor cycle with
no stack hat on. But following another car is painfull as all
the sand on the road gets blasted in your face. Also one trip
a bolt came loose in one of my gaurds. When it fell out it
flicked up and hit me in the head almost knocking me out.

Sounds like you guys arent painting a happy picture.
I was going to run with both but wanted the car on the road sooner (no wipers, no demister, less initial cost)
Maybe I should just get the full screen and lay it back.
I was chaseing more of what Beryl .... I mean Albanycobra was talking about - wind in the face (since I cant feel it through my hair anyway)
Also I love how low the car looks without the screen.

Todd,
Dont know the reasoning, I think Cobras look great without screens.
Regs just say all cars must have Windscreen except for open class where you can run race tyres and any engine mod and aero screen if you wish.
Also this year Wakefield management have stated that roll bars must be fitted to all open cars. If you want an instructor on board then dual or one big single roll bar will be required.
Phil.

Hmmm, thanks for that. As for the rollbar, fair enough... Open class sounds like the fun class.
Only the orange harrison cobra ran the aero last year didnt it? Or not even? There might be a few 100ths in an aero screen... might be worth investing. Garrett? How much do you wana be King Cobra

aero screens are great.
Hi i have had aero screens on my cobra for a while and enjoyed the experiance. i made them my self making a base out of alloy and fibreglass then rivited some 1.6 mm polycarb to the base.
the only thing i would change is to used an optical quiality polycarb as i found it a bit hard to see thru at night.
You will need to put one on the passenger side as well or you will be doing a lot of driving on your own.
how well it works depends a lot on your seating position as i sit very low in my car i had no wind issues with the aero screen. other than you do get wet if it rains i have been up to 120 kph with it and had no problems with flex or vibration.
another tip for you is when you mount it you use the demister vent holes to bolt it down as when you want to put a normal screen in you dont have any holes to fill in.
I have attached a pic even had no problems with my cap.

Sorry Scott, my wife just saw the pic of your car with the aero screens and she has put her foot down.
She says she is not getting in a car that looks like the batmobile.
So it looks like I may have to go with the same as you and run full screen most of the time and fit the aero screen only when it will be me in the car.
Thanks again everyone for your input.
