Quick Jack Dimensions
Does anyone have dimensions or a template for quick jacks? Waiting for some bits at the moment, I reckon knocking these up would be a easy mid week job (as long as I get someone else to do the welding) :)
|
Me thinks a couple of the dark side fellas will have these dimensions. Couple of em are blu$$y good at welding too.
Us ford fellas don't havta jack our cars cuz they just keep running. ;) :) |
I am interested too!
I like the idea of some billet items. Ben |

HI Guys,
I made my Quick jack pads. I drew them up on cad and had a mate laser cut them out of 6mm stainless. Cost 2 cartons!!! I then had them bent as you can see in the pics. I had a look but cannot find the original file. If you like what I have done I can lend you one to trace the shape. Phil |
I saw Phil's at Winton and they are really well done, they look neater as they are not welded. 2 cartons is a bargain.

Don't these look great ! Kinda pricey but, very nice. I like the thickness.

Ugly as two dogs f$*^#*.........go with original look................IMHO
|
Sorry, but diabolic is the word to describe those quickjacks!
Regards. |
I like those ones, but would do them a little different.
Who has an original looking Cobra these days anyway? Dare to be different. Ben |
Ages back I got a set of 6mm water cut aluminium quick jack plates from Chris Lidgerwood. I welded them up with the MIG and they turned out pretty good.
I've polished a couple of them up and made the mounting rods from 20mm aluminium rod and tapped it at each end for 12mm Stainless button head cap screws. I'll try to remember to take a pic of one bolted up. I don't have any templates as such but there are several different designs out there so you could make up your own design easy enough and it'd be hard to pick. Here's one just welded http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...ick_Jack_2.JPG Cheers |
I dont know that much about the quick jack pads
(and this may become even more apparent shortly) But when I first saw them it looked to me like someone had taken an oxy to a couple of bits of angle iron. Which is basically how I intend to fabricate mine. Please feel free to point out the flaws in this plan prior to my starting ta LoBelly |
When I first saw quick jacks on a Cobra I thought they were butt ugly. I always liked full tube bumpers with over riders. After a while looking at them they have grown on me. Also when you add up the weight difference the performance freak in me opted for the quick jacks.
Cheers |
 Could some one show me how they work?
A diagram/picture would be great for the imagination challenged:D |

Hi Tenrocca, there are some pictures of quickjacks I bought from Finishline in the States in my gallery. They are made from stainless and are one piece bent to shape. If you like them I could post you a tracing of them. The rear jacks are normally larger than the front.
Kobrah I dont know how to post diagrams, but if you can imagine an everyday hand trolley that delivery guys use only one metre wide. The leading edge that would normally slide under a box fits into the U of both the quickjacks at the same time, then the operator pulls the handles back and down then up goes the car. Hope that made sense. Regards. |
OIC well explained.
Thanks Mando |
Thanks Mando, but with the pics Ive been looking at and the variation Ive seen, I reckon if youo get em about right, they'll look OK. So Im going to do my own interpretion on the quick jack...:)
|
