Cheers

What about Dave Samsons old car from QLD? Isn't it a CR. British racing green in colour no stripes. It has recently been bought by a guy who has just joined the QLD CCC...Runs an Supercharged LS1 from memory with 6 speed...

Yes I remember Dave Samsons car. It's running an older Holden V8 with a super charger and water/air inter cooler. He's put some other neat goodies in it too, I believe it has ABS.

I'll put it in the list. See if the new owner wants to add some details.

Cheers

Yep that's right..it was the older 5.0L out of a VN I think now you mention it!
Yep ABS as well. I believe teh new owner has already put new billet axles in the rear end. Lunched the original pair! Right foot does it again!

David Samson's must have been one of the earlier/earliest chassis supplied by CR.

I'm trying to remember the first time I saw it on the road. I reckon an easy 5 years ago, maybe more. Could even by from the late 90's.

Remember the car well, competed against it at various comp events. Even remember it winning a dyno comp, with 308rwhp. That was big numbers in those days as it beat everyone else that turned up. It had much more HP than that by the time Dave sold it.

ABS was interesting, Dave put a lot of work and skill into getting it working. Never did find out how well it worked. He claimed it worked as well as a factory equiped unit.

Davids car was the old shape with no flares on the rear wheel arch I remember it when it was back at Ians for repairs after an on track incedent.

Yeah, it lost control at a motorkhana and hit a parked corvette.

Updated again with the info from over night. Thanks guys keep it coming.

I saw Daves car in Ians workshop after it's front end wallop. It was flattened almost back to the front cross member. I thought the story was it had skewered off the track and went head on ito the armco or a wall at 100+.

I was most impressed with the strength of it. It looked like the crumple zone in the front of it worked like it was supposed to.

Cheers

Oops, I've got the wrong incident. The damage from the Corvette motorkhana wasn't that bad. You guys are right.

The damage you saw was from when it hit the armco down the main straight of QR. Dave lost control down the main straight and hit the armco hard. It was a wet track and he lost traction changing gears or putting the power on too suddenly, Cobra started to fish tail and you saw the end result..

I had plain forgot about the incident at QR.

The red beast is CR3170. It was first registered in 2003 and could be claimed to be factory built. It has done about 1400km since new, about 700 of those since it was rebuilt by Ian Denner following a minor indescretion. It currently resides in my shed like an old friend that I have never really got to know since we now have 3 small children and a farm to run. Funnily enough, it is also for sale if someone came up with the right money. We would prefer I think to cash it in and get something we can all enjoy, like a Lewis (ski boat to the uninitiated). Currently registered with VERY LOUD side pipes. 0412 106 563.

Mike

The register is looking great, there are not many missing names, which shows how great the forum is.

You have put my phone number with Phil Neall details, doesn't worry me but may confuse others.

Regards

Rod

Sorry 'bout that. I'll fix it up and add the extra stuff in.

I'm working in Hong Kong at the moment and on dial up so I'll see how I go uploading it.

Cheers
