Paul,
There are two people who do this conversion in Sydney one is Ian at CR and not sure of other as he moved from Hornsby some years ago.
Mal Wood in Queensland also does this conversion as does a member on this forum.
Have a talk to me on Tuesday and I will let you know the pros and cons.
Phil

Maybe check with Aussie Mike - he may be too busy with other items though.
Or you could do it yourself, it isnt as difficult as it looks.

Come on Phil spill the beans on the bad side of the shifter relocation as I am going down that road (getting a special box from Mal wood).
Cheers

Hi all
I got my shifter from GM Motorsport (rip shift) and had them them turn it around so it bent forward and it is great no internal mods to box just bolted on.
Regards
Paul

Ledge
I think you went the easiest way. I modded mine myself and it all worked out fine but some very nervous moments I must say.
Those rip shifts I looked at early and thought they were a bit XXy but turning it around was a good move and am I right in saying they also are a much shorter shift. Probably ended up cheap way to relocate shifter.

Hi Leeroy
I think they are about 400 now when i got mine they where dearer than that.
Yes they are a short shift and the way they work means 2nd to 3rd you just push it straight no need to move it side ways which makes for a bloody quick change through all gears.
Regards
Paul

Paul,
Very Clever.
Craig,
The only pros and cons relate to $$. Mal Wood does a real nice job and if you are getting a special box stick with Mal.Like Leigh says you can do it yourself...but the first cut is the deepest ( good name for a song )

Show and Tell
Paul, at show at tell tonight. We intend to pull the shifter plate off and have a look, so that Phil can give us the good oil and wisdom he has picked up.
Bring a camera if you wish. I am going to have mine very handy.

Hi All
There are some pics in my gallery of where the shift comes up if you want to take a look to make sure it will be ok.

Ledge, thanks for the pics.
I believe your engine sits a bit further back and you are able to take advantage of the 6 or 7 inches that the Rip Shifter moves it forward. The CR's do need the mod and need to ake advantage of the forward shifter location, otherwise the gear stick comes out aroudn your elbow.
At least I think that is what I learnt from a BBQ last night. Many things were discussed and this was one of them.
