Jag Front Sway Bar Mounting
Hi,
A lot of the CR guys now have a shiny red sway bar for the front of the Classic Revival. I got to thinking "how am I going to mount that to the Jag mounting points"
I knocked up this bracket and I think it will work.
I used the Ford bracket from the rears (cause that's what I had) and threaded an M12 mounting point to mount to the Jag bracket.
This Photo shows how it mounts.
It's only a prototype and I made it from Mild steel. I think it will be OK, but I'm a sparky and not all that clued up on mechanical design and load. If you guys that got the shiny red sway bars, have some suggestions, on what it should be made of, or is steel OK ?
I think the guy at Pedders may have some better connecting brackets (not the Ford one's). I will have a chat with them and see if I can come up with something that's not quite as big.
If it all works out, I am happy to make them for the gang who recently got sway bars.

Sure looks good to me, I cant think of any reason why it wouldnt be strong enough.

Hi Boxhead,
My mechanical engineer (uncle Phil), has given it the thumbs up and also reckons that it can be made from Aluminium. I will get the Ford part numbers for all the Ford bits and let people know.
If you guys with the shiny red front sway bars on CR's want them let me know and I will go into a small scale production run.

Yes I need a couple of those aluminium thingymjigs assuming I can still get a sway bar.
Good to know that it will fit on the Jag front end. Hopefully the fact that my car is a DRB won't be a problem.
Have you got a contact number for the sway bar itself? Hopefully Pedder's have some left!

Hi Gang,
OK, a small production run has been planned and I should have them finished around the end of the month. I am heading over to Perth next week to watch the Wallabies smash the Irish tourists (Go you good things !!). And with the new Work Place Agreements. I am not allolwed to take the mill/lath on the plane.
When I have them finished I will grab all your address's. I will also find out this weekend, if all the Ford parts are available and get you part numbers. No point in shipping stuff that could be right next door to you.

What are those black thingies above the aluminum thingies, cause I need 2 of those as well.

Roda,
The black thingies are the Ford rear sway bar attachment units. They mount between the rear lower control arm and the rear sway bar. And seeing as Ford had done such a great job of these (and I had 2 laying around), i used Mr Ford's brilliant idea.
The shiny aluminium thingies have not started production as yet. I will probably start on these in around 2 weeks time. I've got a Wallabies game to attend. Yipee...

Sway Bar Links
There are a number of link setups available from Pedders.
The one that looks close to Marks picture is the 4204 which has 10mm threads and 60mm between centers. They are around $52 each and are from front sway bars for Camry, Corolla, and Apollo's.
The larger 4208 is listed as the AU Ford rear sway bar link (and about 60 other cars) and can be cut to size. The threaded rod is fixed to one joint and screws into the other as shown in the picture at around $55 each. Instead of using both joints on one side, it may be possible to use traditional bushings (jag setup) at the jag control arm mount and the new ball joint at the sway bar requiring only one unit instead of two. A nice polished peice of stainless tube to cover the thread perhaps. Just a though and depends on mount positions.

Guys,
I would suggest the Pedders unit as Mr Ford wants $68 for his units. The mounting nut for the shiny aluminium thingie is an M12 nyloc nut.
So, Pedders for the black thingies. Churchy for the shiny aluminium thingies and your favourite M12 nyloc nut supplier.
