Default Tyres for the Nationals

Hi guys
Anyone got any suggestions on what competion "R" tyres work well on the Cobra.
I am looking for 17x235x45 for the front,17x295x40 or 18x295x40 rear.

Got to get ready for the nationals!

In 17 inch I don't think there are any tyres available between 275 and 315.

If 275 is too narrow and 315 is too wide, you may have to go for 18's because you can get any size you like.

Default Tyres.......

Guy's,

Yokohama make 235 x 17 x 40 and 275 x 17 x 35
in their A032R. They would have to be the best Street/Race
rubber on the market.

Traction Tyres are the Australian Distributor.

In my opinion, the best bang for buck are the Toyo R888. Toyo's would be the track tyre of choice for QLD Cobra's.

My brother races the black Harrison on Toyo's. You don't get much better performance than that out of a Cobra. In 16 & 17" sizes. In 16's you have to drop back to older RA1 design to get wider than 225 for rear.

In Toyo R888 series you have to jump up to 18" to get 285 & 295 sizes.

I have decided to go with Yokohama

front: A048 235x17x45
rear: A032 275x17x40

I learnt last year that Wakefeild Park is definatly a tyre responsive track.

I am just off to sell a kidney to finance these black donuts.
Cheers

Default R Spec Tyres

By going to the race type tyre you jump a class. I use Dunlop Formulas for the street and Toyo R888 for the track after going to Queensland and watching the locals race up there. They hang on real well. Shame my now ex auto and a welsh plug letting go at Winton did not hang in there. Next time?
Here tell Don Stafford's Cobra is about to be fitted out with R888's

I am already in the open class, I thought the race class was for slicks only as the tyres I am buying are road legal?

Just checked

"R" type tyres are definantly ok in 7000cc, turbo & supercharged modified class

You won't be disappointed with them. My brother has used Yokohama, Toyo & Bridgestone motorsport tyres on his Cobra. He had no complaints about the Yoko's, just the cost was the factor in continuing to use them.
