Default round and round we go!!!

I have been looking for a new set of wheels and tyres, Sizes tend to be a problem, expecially to get a rear outside diameter of 660mm plus on an 18inch rim.

I have found the pirelli P zero Corsa have a 295 35 18 that would suit.

Has anyone had any experience with these tyres, I am not looking at the best performer on the track but the best overall tyre.

I'm pretty sure Chris Hatfield up here ran Corsa's on his Cobra or GT40 at one stage for track work.

That's the only DOT race rubber tyre that I know of in 18" size that is even close to 660mm.

What about running a set of 16" rims with race rubber(if they clear your brakes) and then run some 18" wheels/tyres for the street. 16" race rubber is a lot cheaper than 17 or 18". Plus the race rubber is not so great for the road. They tram line and are unsafe in the wet. Driving that black Harrison down to the nationals with Toyo R888's in pouring rain was an experience I would like to forget.

I've got a pair of 335/30ZR18 Michelin Pilots for the rear of the GT40 for street. Will just use a cheaper tyre like Toyo for the front - 255/40ZR18.

I still haven't decided on my rims. Thinking Simmons or ROH now, think US Billet wheels are going to be too expensive in the 18 x 12"(preferably 13") sizing I want for the rears. Will go 18 x 10" for the front.

Hi Phil, I run a set of Pirelli P Zero 255/40/18 ZR on the rear of a car that stand 661mm high. They are great tyres and have never had any problems with them. I normally get around 10,000kms on a set.

Regards.

Thanks Craig and Mando,

I bought the Pirelli's they were actually cheaper than the R888 and kumho V70s.

I will see how they go.

Thanks

Phil
