Default How many Cobras this Year (2007)

Well seeing it’s 2007 I was wondering whose Cobra is going to be finished this year? If you are planning on your Cobra being complete I reckon we would all like to know. Actually I think there will be a fair number of ‘new’ Cobras on the road:

LoBelly & Ross Smith have pretty new paint!. (They are the 1’s to beat)

Aussie Mike has an engine that goes! (Rebel1 was SURPRISED).

Boxhead must be close? (Valiant Chargers may slow him down).

I promise mine will be finished this year, that’s my NEW YEARS RESOLUTION.

Thumbs up Nearly There

Barring any unforseen problems, I know there always are, she should be ready to go to the engineer, end of January this year.

I’m planning a number of day trips for the Cobra and I during my March holidays. I’m just not sure how to tell my lovely wife that I will be spending more time away with the Cobra and she will be with the kids? Fingers crossed

Cheers SNKBTE

I will be finished this year, I have planned to be drivable for the Shelby fest but I am now not so sure.
I am fitting out the engine bay and have decided that I will paint it now rather than leave it in gel coat and paint later. I was going to leave it in chassis black but I think it will wind up looking too cheap.
It all is coming together though. I am off to the Gold Coast for a weeks holiday in about a fortnight and will be visiting Don to buy some goodies so that should get me motivated.

No guessing what my new years resolution is...

LOL, let you all in on a little secret! I am hoping end of February - mid March. Looks like Department of Transports accross Australia will be descended on by Venomous Cobras early 2007!

Hey Gav when buying parts for my Cobra (we've all done lots of that) no company or person came close (apart from Pasquale at Milaz Wheels) to the service given by Don at SnakeBite. Great fella.

I too have to be registered by years end to run the AU donk so that's my timing - sometime this year!

This assumes I can stay in a job long enough to keep on getting the $$$ to pay for the bits.

Mine wont be pretty like Lobelly's but it will be VIN'd and registered.

Can't wait!!!!!

Cheers

I'll be on the road this year for sure.

The engine's running and I can drive it out of the shed. The electrics are pretty much all done bar connecting up the headlights, front and side indicators. I should also have brakes by the end of this week too.

That pretty much just leaves hanging the bonet and doors and fitting a pair of seats for rego. A shot of primer over the whole thing might not go amiss either.

Cheers

I am working toward engineer approval just after Easter.

Allways the same thing when building with spare money only, waiting on selling a house to free up some cash.

It's looking like an interesting year for the newbies.

Lots of different combinations of Kit/engine/trans & presumably wheel/brake also - and of course each builders own injection of what (s)he wants (or could afford at the time).

Having just said that, it looks like the standards are pretty high - all with fairly potent combos.

Looking at some of those combos makes me think that I'll be getting a good look at the back of the newbies.

My registration adventure will be a little different as I'm trying to use the Victorian Club Permit scheme rather than build an ADR spec car. (Although I did get the chassis/brake combo checked out by an authorised engineer and have stuck to ADR specs except for engine and associated wiring thingies - like seatbelt light)

Will be interesting to see how they shake out - I'm trying to set myself to get to both ShelbyFest and Nationals (does other states have a similar event - but could I make it?) and so hope to compare notes with all of you.

Good luck getting it driving/registered - (I dont think I can say finnished - are they ever??)

LoBelly

If things keep going right, mine should be done either in spring or the beginning of summer.

The closer I get to finishing it, the more motivated I get!

I was getting a little down about my lack of "real" progress lately, that I decided I need a plan and a real schedule to get things going, so I spent all morning logging it into microsoft project, and according to the schedule I have devised, I should be complete next Thursday at about 2:36 pm......

I dont set deadlines, Id only be setting myself up for dissapointment

(Best case - ready for engineering 31/12/07)....

Wow, by my count that's 10 new Aussie Cobras this year.

I like Tenrocca's schedule, I am definately the same!
