I like the tyre idea. But it would mean stock 302's running against big blocks strokers and forced injected cars on the same tyres.

This years event :

Classes same as last year for the sprints(fastest lap)
No classes Reg factor in afternoon (trophy winners from fastest can take regularity trophies)
No classes for motokarnas (trophies down to 5th)

3 or less competitors in a class will only have 1st place.

A calculation will be made using all results to find the weekends overall champion and runners up.

extra trophies from less populated classes will be used as speciality trophies:
Best spin, best looking, most original, most impressive drive ect....

History has proven that you can win without BIG HP. My brother won King Cobra at the Nats a few years back with only 200rwhp, then came 2nd overall the next year with 220rwhp - stock 4lt Lexus. This year was his first year with turbo fitted. Ross Kaigg, Peter Hancock, Ashley Bright, Mike Helmers all run normally aspirated in 5lt class, look at nationals results, 2, 4, 6 & 7 respectively. The biggest difference is tyres, all these guys run DOT race rubber. Well combined with good setup, good understanding of their cars and very good driving. Next most competitive are the 347 strokers. The least competitive overall are the forced induction cars...all very interesting.

Now that is a good decision with trophies, the best of everyones ideas. I like it.

Excellent work Craig.
I have taken your tyre talk onboard, and I agree.
I will be analysing the Shelby data closely before next year’s event.
