With the windows OFF I don't think cockpit heat would be 'that bad'. I used to run my soft top a LOT here in Hawaii just for protection from the sun and to keep COOLER. Heck I even RACED with the soft top on (there is NO shade at the race track, period)!
I'd run it, I'd just remove the side windows. How do hard\soft tops look? It depends on the car and the top. I always thought my Excalibur looked pretty good with the soft top up. Not sure that would hold true for the ERA. I think THIS hard top would look good on most any replica (or even a continuation Shelby).

I have had my eye on one of those 'Le Mans' roofs for some time, but it will not happen until the car is rego'd.
If I can't get one of them to fit I'll be making my own.
It might be dry out here, but the sun is too hot for open air driving in the summer!

Hello guys.
One of my tops is due to be shipped to Oregon (USA) later this month. I will tell my customer that there is some interest on here and maybe he can get a mould taken from it to save everyone else the silly shipping costs and make himself a little money back.
I found that the shape across the trunk/boot lid is similar on a few cars over here, but the shape over the rear wings/fenders is very different.
We had to also extend the roof over the cockpit to reach the screen on the Dax, the distance on a dax from the "B" post to the point where the rear of the screen pillar passes through the body is 760mm approx (From memory).
From this the screen rake is critical. And this was way before we got into working out a way to make a suitable tailgate.
The rear screens are bespoke but I'm sure you could get these copied in the States for a lot less that we had to pay to get it developed in the UK.
Regards.

Dave, I've had my eye on the v8cobra hardtops for a while now. As this is actually the Australian arm of the forum, would you be kind enough to provide us with an estimate on shipping to Australia?
Thanks,
Paul

Hey Dave, Thanks for the info on your hardtop.
However, you should note that most of comments in this thread are from us Aussies.
Now....me thinks, given you lot (read English gentry ), convicted and sentenced one of my relatives to this penal colony for not paying his taxes to some bent landowner, that you should make amends by sending me one of your hardtops.
I'll then forgive you and promise that I'll have it flopped and on the market in no time at all.
Cheers Dave....great top you have.

Dave, from that link you provided - this has to be one of the finest Cobra interiors I've ever seen.

Hey Nick, Given your dyslexia is giving you hell this morning I'll assume you mean what do I think of that Kirkham hard top.
I think it is blu$$y awful. . But only because it's made of that same stuff they use to make those funny engines.
Now, If I had a Kirkham complete with that matching hard top then it would be a whole different story.
Can you imagine the flak you would get from the Dept of Transport if you drove a polished Kirkham. I remember the days we had to blacken out the chrome windshield frames.
I can also remember once following a cobra with a polished stainless fuel tank and the sun reflecting off the tank. Grrrrrrrrrr .

Opinions please.......
Q) If you could only choose one - would you get a soft top or a hard top - and why?

What do you mean - dyslexic.
Eyes are the second thing to go as we get older.
Check the Fuel Caps.
2 different Kirkham hardtops.

Nick

Soft Top, because you can't put a hardtop in the boot!
However, I have now done three multi state trips with the hardtop on, and it does make it very comfortable for rain and shine...
- Ipod in
- AC on
Very Nice
if you are going to own a Cobra, then you have already had your sensible nerve removed, so go and get both!

Cameron,
You know your sensible nerve has been removed when you have no top especially here in QLD
Soft top or hard top??? - Hard top as less of those rivety things in your body!
Open top means open to the elements - no protection, no air con no nothing

Getting smashed by Rebel this morning.
I promise I won`t call you Grand Dad anymore.
Just in case you need that knife out of my back
I`ll hand it back to you at the next breakfast.
That`ll teach me for posting at midnight.
