I'm glad you explained that Plums because I've just been chatting to some-one where I mentioned the weight factor but mostly the importance of set up.

Beyond a certain point these cobras just have troubles getting it to the ground, and making smoke does not make you faster.

Cheers

Plums,

As long as you can convert that power through to the tarmac. Traction is a major issue with these billy karts

Mantis-bec

Cameron02 and I are running the same 220 AU Tickford donk but to add to his words unless you can get your car final engineered before the end of this year the AU option is not available to you. That is the timeline I am running to and Cameron02's car has been engineered already.

As was said earlier find a VASS engineer - a Vicroads approved engineer and bounce these sort of questions off him. Is your chassis going to meet requirements, what powerplant can you use etc.

I'm guessing those big boss motors might be less suitable for you chassis over an aluminium Ch, Ch, dark side option, so that is something you need to research.

In the words of my engineer, you can do what you like - provided it meets the relevant ADR's!!

Cheers

Remember Shelby went to Chevrolet first...and they told him to ping off !
Ford supplied the goods ! Who wants "americas' volkswagon" motor in their car any way. Ha Ha Ha !

So far, (touch wood) I haven't used one Ford part in my car.
It has a custom made chassis, Jag running gear and fibreglass replica shell.

Then why dont you just stick to the HQ

I think this thread has gone far enough.

We all should have jumped in and told Mantis-Bec why he should or should not use a XR8 engine in his Cobra (ie ADRs, costs, other options). I think Aussie Mike was the only on to do this. Ofcourse the yanks started this whole **** fight on the first page of the thread, however good humoured banter has fallen into this old bull**** debate about who is better (Ford V Holden).

My opinion on it all = we all should just be buddys because we all love Cobras. Comparing who has a better engine then another just creates a thread like this.

My dicks bigger then yours!

I don't want a Corvette or Chevelle, or even a HQ... I want to put an LS1 in a Cobra....

I love Australia, a land of freedom.

Good point Blair, but it is all in good fun.

That is the beauty of Cobra's, everyone has a different reason to build, and a different idea on what makes the perfect car.

If I had a Ford engine I would probably put crap on the darksiders too!

Actually I thought this was going along well with a touch of humour and no animosity at all . All in good spirits.

But..if we are gonna have a comparison...mine's this big:

Seeing I am on the move at the moment and am reading this post on my ultra compact notepad, with its crystal clear yet small display I have come across a strange phenonoma which I should share with my fellow Cobra friends. I am pleased to announce that Rebel1s <-----> is substantially smaller from this view (10 screeen) compared to if you were looking at this post on a, say 32 Bravia screen. I suggest those who find Rebel1s deflection to the 'other side' amazing should go out and buy the smallest screen you can find.

Lucky I don't care he has a Holden engine!

Well yes you could, and do a 1:13:06 around wakefield (car 22 - best time 2006) with a completely stock LS1, or you could spend a WHOLE lot more on a "blown Clevo" (which means you couldnt even get your car regisistered) and do a 1:14:80 around Wakefield (car 93 - best time 2006).

Its no bloody wonder all the smart ones are going "Cheap".
