[quote=Tenrocca]Well yes you could, and do a 1:13:06 around wakefield (car 22 - best time 2006) with a completely stock LS1, or you could spend a WHOLE lot more on a "blown Clevo" (which means you couldnt even get your car regisistered) and do a 1:14:80 around Wakefield (car 93 - best time 2006).
Tenrocca you are correct, the smart ones are going cheap.
Wakefeid 2004 Nationals car 24 lap time 1:11.26 with a n/a 4 Ltrr Lexus, 2005 Nationals car 47 lap time 1:09:79 with a n/a 4 Ltr Lexus.
Lexus motors are cheap, ultra reliable, readily available, quick and still compliant(in some states).

It's not just the initial purchase price of the darkside which is cheaper either, they'll murder the opposition with unbeatable fuel economy too...

Or you could dig up the standard ole, nothing special, hardly breathed on, 'just threw her in', 347 as found in disused tractors everywhere, complete with all creature comforts including Air, 'BUT' still bearing the Blue Oval and pull out a 01:10.4.
Really... As seen in tractors everywhere..
Les, are you listening...

I'm not sayin nuffin
All I know is that I've got a lump of recycled aluminium, mixed with some recycled milk bottles, and further mixed with some exotic technology which no1 has yet to properly decipher.
Gawd, you guys think you have problems?.

All Im just saying, that if anyone is to put make an attempt at putting a particular make or engine down, then they should have the runs on the board. If Mrs Flatchat wants to come in and have a crack at the "holden" boys, well at least a 1:11 gives her the credibility to do so.

Beejay, Do I owe you some sort of apology ? When I said americas volkswagon. I meant ..the common car / most populous car for the country ! Not an under powered car. My Cobra will have a stock 351 Cleveland...no match for a 2006 technology engine.....however I am not afraid to be flogged on the track...I will give you a run anyway. The trick is in the start !
Look forwart to a meeting. Please don't die of old age before I finish my car !

No problems at all Rob,
I enjoy the rivalry with the Ford guys. It just seems to me that people gloss over the fact that we are making kit cars, they are not a Ford, and never will be. I am building my dream car, and I do not care if it does not look like a 60's Shelby.
Look forward to having a beer with you one day and doing some bench racing!
Ben

ive wired up a 4.6 quad cam form an 2000 model american mustang
into a cobra
lets just say the sump was very low and the intake was higher than the bonnet around the outer edges
and im in the process of wiring up an aussie 5.6 quad cam into a 66 fastback mustang
the aussie engines ford quad cam are wider than the american quad cams
due to the bigger heads
so i guess anyhting is possible but depends if u want it to look nice and neat and easy to work on

I've got a 400 small block Chevy bored 0.030 (406cu) 6" Eagle H beam rods and some lightweight Keith Black pistons.Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, equal length custom headers, Jaguar 4 spd O/D gearbox and all Jaguar Series 1 running gear with a 2.88 LSD..This motor pulls 8krpm no problem and just never seems to run out of power.I use it as a daily driver and in S.A I was always in the top two or three quickest, including beeting BOB Olthoffs time one day. I love it!

No the engine fits just nicely thanks. All alloy, lightweight, compact and breaking traction far too easily without any mods. Oh, and the sound!
So who are you really? I notice you avoided that one.
