Those Toyota turbos do make some good power, and seem easy to mod.

Not my cup of tea for a Cobra though.

Tenrocca you are correct, the smart ones are going cheap.

Wakefeid 2004 Nationals car 24 lap time 1:11.26 with a n/a 4 Ltrr Lexus, 2005 Nationals car 47 lap time 1:09:79 with a n/a 4 Ltr Lexus.

Lexus motors are cheap, ultra reliable, readily available, quick and still compliant(in some states).

Unfortunately car 93 hasn't been set up to do low lap times at wakefield, brakes , suspension , endless days and weekends practicing at the track like some,
If it was set up and had plenty of track time then that would be a totaly different story, would you agree Mr figures

Haha - Been stewing on that one Pete? Was just having a friendly dig at questionably the most outspoken anti darksider out there. Personally I have no preference, other then having to choose an engine that allows me to register my car. unfortunately under the current regulations, and in performace for the dollar, the gen3 really is close to the only choice in NSW. Given that, I find it hard that anyone could be overly critical of that engine choice.

Yes you could put a boss in there, and if anyone wants to go that way, thats great. But I dont even know if my kit would fit it, plus I dont want to have to take the engine out to change an exhaust header gasket. Plus apart from the badge, which is more like an original cobra engine....push rod v DOHC... etc.

Its all fun, and hope you didnt take offence, as none was meant. Myself....I dont expect to be at the pointy end of the field, as I just dont have the budget to do that, but if I can be half competitive and drive my car there...well thats enough for me

andrew
the boss would be a tight fit but i had peter widen engine bay to accomodate the big beast boss 290 ha ha ha ha ha hopefully i dont need to change an exhaust gasket to soon though, for me the 290 decision was something i thought was if im going to do it and stay within the regs it would have to be reliable without having to do a rebuild on the donk before i installed it,although the much higher price tag could of been avoided but hey something i'll probably only do once in my lifetime or at least till the kids grow up and move out.and free me of weekly bribes. haha

has anyone seen a cobra with the quad cam us engine from a late model mustang

i wired one up and sump sat very low and throttle body stuck above the bonnet line

now some dont know this but the aussie ford quad cam 5.4 is bigger than the us model 4.6 engine and not as good

so i would buy 3 tape measures in case one is wrong hehehe
and double check and triple check cause it willnot be a straight forward job
making everything to fit around it and look nice
