Steve, I know you directed this to Mike, but let me jump in. You make an interesting point. I am wondering if you increase the air and fuel to compensate for the open exhaust whether you'll increase the power. My guess is that you would. On my first run with open pipes and a K&N X-treme filter top for more airflow, I was sure there was more power to the wheels. Maybe it was just wishful thinking.

Hi Kanga, I did the pipes more for for a laugh than for pure performance. It should turn a few heads going down the main straight at the nationals.
I'll defenitely be wearing a set of ear plugs inside my helmet.
Cheers

Yea, fuel it up and see if you can get some large flames out the side. I agree they look great!

No, Pete, in Australia they drive on the LEFT side of the street! Remember?

I know something about shorties myself! At night at the drag strip (I always ran a rich mixture when racing) the FLAMES from the side pipes had the fans on their feet (and their fingers in the ears)!

Well I got home from NSW around midnight on Thursday. Waiting for me in the office were my coated pipes back from HPC. I took trip into the city on Friday morning to pick them up.
Friday afternoon and they were all bolted up.
The finish is great and they look much bette than I expected. There was only one misshap and that was one of the exhaust tips was bent in transit. 20 minutes careful work with a dead blow hammer and a leather pad and it was straight again with no markings.
Here's the drivers side headers.
And the passengers side
Shorty pipes
It was getting a bit dark so the pics aren't so good. I'll take some better shots in the sun.
One step closer to Shelby Fest.
Cheers

Nice work Mike.
Phil,
Those type of pipes on your car would be louder than a 747!

Never mind the pipes Phil, what about that gearstick knob.
If Mike made that vibrate he'd sell millions.

It does Vibrate Les. Not very practacle for the bedroom though as it has to have a V8 motor attached.

Mike, you need to get out more often, I've known some who would appreciate "
industrial duty" vibrating thingys.
