Hi all , new to the forum and cobra ownership with a few questions.
Hi everyone.
Ive just bought myself a rmc and have a few questions please.
my car is 351 windsor, toploader.
ive already embarked on a few changes, but want to do some more, that im hoping u guys can help with.
Ive just finished fitting side pipes and twin roll bars, but i want to update to efi.
I have availble to me a damage ed xr8 manual which i plan on using as the donor car to get my motor and box, im fine with the mechanical side of things, but need help on the wiring.
Does anyone have a diagram to help me wire it myself or alternatively if anyone can recommend someone in melb who could wire it up for me.
Thanks in advance for any help
Dean

Hi Dean,
Congratulations on the new car, how about some pictures of your new toy?
I also have an RMC, mine has a 302 Windsor from an AU. If your XR8 engine has the wiring harness and the engine management computer then you will be OK as it is not too hard to overcome the security in the earlier Ford ECU's. If you don't have the ECU then there are several local companies that manufacture ECU's that will work with your engine and most of them will be able to wire it in. There is not too much to do to modify the current RMC wiring to work with a later engine, most of us mount the ECU inside the passenger footwell at the top. If your original engine was from the US you will find that the starter motor in the XR8 engine is now on the passenger side so you will have to extend that wiring as well.
Good luck, I am sure there are plently of people in Melbourne that will be able to assist you.
Cheers
Ross

Welcome to the madhouse acac.
What wiring are you confused about?. Engine, ecu or general chassis wiring?.

i can come to melb and wire it up
or if u send me the engine loom i can wire it up and send it back to u with not much left to do and ill give u diagram of left over wires
u will need to remove security with a security removal unit i think they are about 300 bucks
but if u send me your loom and what dash u have i can get it as close as possible to yr dash for a cheaperprice than me flying down there to do it
or if u want i can fly down for a weekend but its not cheap as im from sydney
thanks
jim
