Ford computer security
As many of you may recall I mentioned making contact with a fellow woking for Ford that has the ability to turn off the security in the engine computer of my AU2 package.
I've caught up with him earlier this week as I am starting to work through electricals with an auto elec., who suggested I talk to the Ford bloke about getting my computer put into some form of security-less limp mode to allow us to at least start the car as part of the wiring exercise.
The Ford bloke indicated he has developed his own programs so that he isn't using any Ford gear to do this work but he is still cautious and reserved on what cars he does this with. However I did mention way back when that he had also mentioned about overcoming the Ford B series car security.
Given that Boss engines are being shoehorned into cars as we speak, is there anyone out there that want's me to ask more on this issue for B series cars from this contact?
If so what do you need to know?
PM on this if you want instead.
Cheers

Darrell
I'll see if I get many more hits before I email him as he is hard to catch and busy setting up his own race car I believe. But i will ask the question in due course.

Darell
Seems not much other interest in the topic, so will email chap shortly, but is yours a boss290 or some other powerplant? The engine computer you have is the standard one that came with the engine?
Cheers

Darrell is the computer suited to an auto or manual gearbox?

the 5.4 autos need the abs ring on the back wheel for a speed signal so it can change gears
some go thru the abs others just bypass the abs when its not there and goes straight to the ecu
easiest way for now to get security removed is with a flash tuner
at moment i have prog to remove security on holdens and it will do fords soon just waiting for the company to release new version of vcm suite

Sideshow
I'm not up with the later motors, is the 5.4 the B series boss motor or something else?
I haven't talked to my contact yet but what he can do is wipe the AU2 computer security completely so that there is no smartlock / smartshield, which ever is the later version, to overcome access without the need for the standard Ford ignition and BCM.
Have you this capability for the AU2 security?
Cheers
Steve

the 5.4 is the quad cam engine they are very large engines and dont fit to good in cobras
i have done one ages ago
if u wipe ecu completely does it remove the whole tune
all u want to do is turn of pats security
there is software coming out soon to do it and i should have oitwhen its out
othwise u can get a flash tuner from cappa who i dont really like
but anyway u have to use software where u talk to the ecu
u dont erase anything u just turn pats off so make sure he does that
ford ecus are very hard to crack compared to holden ecus
but to wire up bcm and key isnt too hard
so hopefully my software will do fords in afew months

Jim
Just had a look at your web page from your other post and the work looks good, shame your in Sydney.
The fellow I've planned to use is a Ford driveline and test engineer that has written up his own coding so he can switch on and off what he needs and retune the engine to suit. He would have been involved in the AU engine development so presumably knows the workings inside out.
I have to bypass security (switch off) and retune engine for no air, power steering or any other AU2 niceties that may have been in the donor car. He has said he can do all this.
Given his background I suppose I've just taken the discussions I've had with him so far at face value but there is no reason for me to doubt his credentials.
I gather you're months away from being able to do same is that right? Any idea what sort of dollars you'd charge for such an exercise? I'm not above switching horses, so to speak, but I'm looking at wiring my car in about 1 months time and he is down here in Melboure, albeit Geelong direction but that's far closer than Sydney.
Let us know your thoughts.
Cheers

i do travel interstate for some jobs
last year i went to perth for 5 days to wire up a 1uz toyota into a hilux
it takes about 5 days to wire up a cobra properly
these days i can buy the main body loom and make most of it a home depending on diagrams givin by customers of car layout
and also wire up engine too at home then when i go do the job its not as hard
so when i travel only exra charge will be travel time and maybe accomodation
if needed
but i do haev relos in brisbane and perth and melb so accomodation can be saved sometimes
i have wired up au2 and its not so hard cause i had the bcm and the key hidden under the dash
hopefully soon the software will do fords too so im not sure on price
holdens are about 300 at moment
i dont think u need to tune engine for no air or power steer
in the usa there is software to tune fords but its not cheap and u still need a flash tuner inbetween which i think stil makes it dear
anyway codes for ecus slowly get cracked and if there is demand it speeds things up
u just tune it for max power
u can buy flash units from cappa but theyre about 950
i have wiring looms at home so i can talk to the ecus on my bench and power them up just with a battery for both fords and holdens so once the ford software is out it will make things easy
if you have seen any recent magazines with a red wilys coup on cover i spent 10 days wiring that up
was a nightmare but turned out nice and neat
i got a 32 ford rod with a lexus v8 to do this thurs and fri up at toronto
so il be staying up there for few days
so im slowly doin more nice show cars from scratch to finish which is what io enjoy and the good thing is im always the last person to finish the wiring and i get to start the cars and when they start and rumble i get to see the smiles on their faces which is a good feeling
