Default Getting ready for Shelby Fest

I've been working interstate a lot but have managed to put some time into the car this week end.

I'm looking in good shape to get to Shelby Fest with not too many jobs left to do.

I've now got matching seats fitted and the bonus is they are ADR approved with all the correct tags.

I picked up a 6 point Harness while I was a way and I'm in the process of fitting it.

Jobs left to do:
I'm waiting on a set of new tyres from the US and the car desperately needs a wheel alignment.

Finish filling the seams and sand the body.

Glass the enlarged hole in the bonnett.

Spray it with a coat of primer so it's all one colour.

Fit the headlights and front indicators.

Apply some weather stripping around the door, boot and bonet openings as it rattles a fair bit.

Finish the aero screen so i dont get bugs in my teeth.

Cheers

I don't see any one of those details delaying an appearance at ShelbyFest...

Mike, I really look forward to seeing you and the beast in the flesh.

Regards

I'm really looking forward to catching up with all of you. I'm so looking forward to being able to go to these events with my own car. The nationals and Shelby Fest are a great way to see these cars doing what they were made for but I find it depressing being there and having my unfinished car at home in the shed.

Cheers

Looks good, Mike.
What tyres did you get from the States? By the time Winton's come and gone, I could be ready for a new set!!

Cameron,

You are correct, the switch is the battery cut off. I don't like the normal switches you see with the red plastic key. They strike me as a bit flimsy and crappy. I wanted something with a solid feel to it so I found a really nice one made by Flaming River. Here's a link to it: The Big Switch I bought it through VPW in Melbourne and it was about $120 from memory.

Richard,

The tyres are just some Sumitomos in 315/35/17 and 235/45/17 nothing fancy. In the end I decided a set of road tyres was the best course. I'll buy a second set of rims later and fit some race rubber to them. The reason being that a few people I've talked to that have race rubber on the road say they are horrible. They don't work till they warm up and can be down right dangerous when cold.

Cheers

Howdy Mike,
Your pipes look grouse, those coatings will be next on the list.
I will be shed racing over shelby fest, but if you need pit crew I'll be glad for you to fly me in
I have managed to get the chariot fired up again over the weekend, all the fuel lines and emmission lines have now been finalised and now I will get into the wiring.
Looking good Mike, but don't become just another trophy mark on that Mizzi's door!!

That trophy mark will be guarunteed. The only way I think I'll pass either of the Mizzis is if they run out of fuel.

I've booked you a ticket on Garuda airlines but I'll understand if you don't want to fly.

Cheers

Good luck to everyone at the Shelbyfest, and just so you can keep a track of the times you're chasing, I'll attach the results from last year.

http://www.cobracarclubqld.org.au/Ne...val2006Results

Now Cameron, as our only Queenslander in the field this year, we expect a HUGE result........or don't come home !!

Cam....we NEED a Mizzi stamp on your door when you return to the Sunshine State, and you'll be given a parade.

We are NOT competitive.....we are really much more interested in just taking part.....I WISH I was taking part this year, instead of just trying to stir up some interstate rivalry

Regards to all,

Be Safe,

Warren Boylan.

I see that there is no pressure from the Qld PRESIDENT..

I broke a CV joint at Willowbank last year and you get me shipped to China!~! Who knows where I'll end up if I fail the team at ShelbyFest

Just don't make it a country ending in 'stan'

See everyone else there.

Well done Mike, youve really made a lot progress in the past few months. I can relate to how you felt as other cars circulated the track with one sitting in the garage.

Regards.

Bernie, The handle does look a bit garage doorish but it looks OK now that it's polished. I'll machine up an aluminium bezel to cover the thread and the retainin nut. It should finish it off nicely.

Hope you can make it to Shelby Fest. It's been a while since we've caught up.

Mando, Any chance you'll be making the trip across this year?

Cheers

Default Target

Looking forward to getting on the track with you guys.

I am doing some prepwork on the car before the event, new CV joints, thanks Cameron , diff ratio change from 3.45 to 3.75.

Wazza, Cameron, what is going on us Ford guys need to stick together, the LS1 is the enemy.

Still have 500 race KMs to go before I can give you guys some competition.

Will there be Bikini girls at the parade?

Phil
