Don't you just love those pipes!?! My fuel lines in the Cobra looked bigger than them... It's a strange setup - there aren't any traditional mufflers, just two hotdogs that are about 2.5 feet long! It actually sounds OK.
Al - the XY is getting a bit of attention now - I'm fitting a 35 spline rear end, the 13" rotors and 6 piston Wilwoods in anticipation of the 460 being replaced by something larger. 600 sounds like a nice neat number for an engine capacity
What that means though, is that I have the Cobra engine and a 550hp big block sitting around doing nothing. The guy that imported the Comet nearly pulled out from the sale when he heard that I had the Cobra motor ready to go into my next car. I promised him that I wouldn't do anything too radical, but I had my fingers crossed behind my back...
Leeroy - thanks mate. I knew absolutely nothing about this model until I was actually looking at this one. I've never seen one before, and nobody at any early Ford / Mercury / Lincoln clubs up here seem to know of any around. It doesn't make it super valuable, but at least I'm not likely to have many others turning up at the same events. The wheels are only 14", and I'm tossing up about whether to fit a period style wheel in a larger diameter.
A matter of interest - the registration requirements for driving it left hook mainly relate to seat belts, child restraints, headlights dipping left etc. I have been quoted from $150 to $660 to issue the approval for the mods. It's worth shopping around!
