I love the OLD ford engines...got a couple in the shed.

I don't like the NEW ford engines. They remind me of an olde girl friend.

Too big
Too heavy
Too complex
Too expensive

Rebel, Nigel,

You guys dont realise what a good deal you have got. Four years ago when I got my motor and gearbox I shelled out $12K as the LS1's (5.7) were a as scarce as a virgin in a brothel.

A six litre engine engine even in std form s going to be awesome.

The later model engines are much stronger and have better oiling than the early models. Just keep the revs below 6500 and they will last a long time.

Make sure you fit an oil cooler though.

Regards,

Phil.

Yeah, we also looked seriously at LS1 about that time, but was just too expensive. Also looked at some oddball engines like Toyota V12 etc.

In the end a $1800 front cut provided the best value for money and the best reliability...Lexus. Sell off the unused parts and it's a cheap option. Nothing wrong with those sewing machines engines...cough...Lexus engines.
