Hi Everyone,

This was the first time that my car has been driven out of the garage, next week it goes in for the seats and interior trim to be fitted. It won't be long before its on the road.

Ross

Default Wow!

Ross,

your car looks great!

The detail looks spectacular. Well done, you must feel pretty proud right now of the job done so far.

regards

Hi Ross, Your car looks magnificent, especially in that colour. Youve done a great job. Where did you get your sidepipes from?

Regards Mando.

Ross, Looks fantabulous mate. Nothing like the sweet looks of a well built RMC.

Great work

Thanks for all the encouragement guys, I am just so pleased with how this car is turning out. It looks beautiful and now all I want to do is to be able to drive it.

Plums; I am getting the trim done at First Class Motor Trimmers in Kenwick, they have done several RMC cobras. I will post some pictures when it is done.
Mando; The sidepipes were made by RMC, they also fabricated the headers.

Great looking Cobra Ross. You should be very proud of your efforts. Makes me really wish mine had some nice paint on it.

Cheers

Mike,

you know, I love a AAA+ paint job as much as the next guy and Ross's car fits that bill to a tee.

But I was really taken by the 'Rat Rod' feel of your car, and would be sorely tempted myself to hang on to it for a while.

Do I see some large open speakers behind where the seats are going?

Hi Cameron,

The Rat Rod look is growing on me the more I think about it. It's certainly a bit different. A couple of things about it that made me smile... Coming in after the sprints and looking at the mess of stone chips on the rear guards just behind the doors. Rather than going Oh my new paint!! I thought, wow it's got patina now. Turning up at scrutineering and they ask where should we write your group number (the windscreen doesn't have a lot of space) so I get them to write it on the body in front of the screen and don't care.

I went out to the shed to look at it the next day after getting home. It's filthy because of the light rain and the spin off the track. It's got stone chips all over it and black streaks of brake dust all over the wheels. I look at it and think to myself, Now it looks used, cool.

I think it'll stay satin black for some time but I'd like to rub it back and prep the body a bit better so it has a nice smooth finish. I'll play around with some stripes and stuff and I'm keen to work out how to make them look distressed and worn looking. All the while I'll be driving the wheels off it.

Sorry for the Hi Jack Ross.

Cheers

Beautiful paint job ..is it candy apple ? It looks that way. Once its finished you MUST make a better driveway. Maybe a matching red carpet !
I hope my RMC looks as good as this ! (blue though )

It certainly has it's benefits. We went with a black gelcoat body, sanded back the seams, gave it a polish, painted the edges, put some nice number roundels & guard stripes on it. Voila. Certainly showing wear & tear now after all these years of my brother racing it.
