Next Project
We have added a new addition to the family, an EK ute.
The car has been sitting in a shed for the last 10 years without turning a wheel.
The car is complete with all bright work, lights, new rubber kit, glass etc etc.
It has a red motor and supra 5 speed, the front end is a HR with disc brakes.
I took it to my brothers and we put on some jumper leads, put some fuel in, tapped the starter, wound it over untill the oil pressrue came up and then it fired first go and settled in a nice idle in a few seconds.
We are not sure what to do with her, but it was too good to pass up.
My daughter (17 yrs old) loves it and has named her lucy.

Hey Phil. That looks like a nice example, what a great find. What have you got planned for it?
You might want to start with a new gasket kit for the carby - if it's been sitting around for years you might find it starts to leak fuel after a bit of running.

Phil,
I agree it looks a good example. No visible panel rust..
Mmm named Lucy by the daughter - possession is 9/10th of the Law. So hang onto it, as I can see a potential claim to ownership..

I have lost it.
Yep, I am sure it will be hard to get a drive in it.
The body is rust free as all the rust repairs have been done, new floor has been welded in etc.
There is the front guard and tail gate that stil need some work.
I would like to fit the Pat Gardener front end conversion and fit a V6 with air and powersteering. Would make a good tow car.
We will see, but for the price I just could not let it go.
I was suprised that it started, all the brakes etc are new, well as in when fitted 10 years ago.

I had a bunch of hot up parts for holden Red motors but I flogged them all at the Sheparton Swap meet.
A mild cam and aluminium timing gear along with a manifold and Holley 350 is about all you need. If you are realy keen pick up a 12 port head from the later EFI Black motor and get a bit of porting done. Genie make about the nicest headers for these motors. I tried a few sets on an XU1 replica I built years ago.

Sorry for sending that last message, It was an error, I'm actually replying to a couple of the others.
By the way...the EK is way cool.
Our Egg One...Michael, has just bought himself a very nice XC Fairmont, which will be a nice one to do up.
The cool thing is that he's only 19 but INSISTS that it be restored to ORIGINAL specs....That's my boy!

The V6 option sounds great. Would make a nice little cruiser and tow vehicle. Mmm painted up in the same colour as the Cobra even..
I'm amazed your daughter hasn't claimed it.
Then again if she claims it she may have to work on it and put some dollars in...
If she is like mine, she will wait until it's all done and just borrow the keys..

Hey Phil,
Have you checked out the Castlemain Rod shop for chassis kits?
I can think of a type of alloy v8 that would be a hoot in an early Holden.
Looks great, I'm quite jealous.

The Holden V6 EFI system bolts on to a red motor, you just need to fit a crank angle sensor ( the firing order is different but the timing is the same)
makes for a very reliable daily driver
Good luck with it
