I'm working out a design for an in tank system at the moment. I'm already sick of the sound of the Bosch 044 pump. Even more noticable with the stealth exhaust in place.

I reckon I'll build a stainless or aluminium tank with plenty of internal baffles and a swirl pot inside. I'l use an in tank Bosch 040 or 023 pump. These flow nearly as much as the 044 but being submerged in the fuel shouldn't be so noisy. It'll make my plumbing a bit simpler too with fewer connections to worry about.

The other option would be a pair of Walbro in tank pumps. Two of these would flow enough to feed anything.

Cheers

I've been talking to Sean Mullins who I believe makes a lot of custom alloy tanks for hot rods, etc. I might give him a call soon to find out the various solutions he offers... considering it's about $300 for a GM pump that won't be enough to feed 400HP on a track, I might as well get it right first time.

What are these Bosch 044/040/023 pumps worth?

Bosch 044 pumps go for about $240. The in tank versions are a bit cheaper. I may have an 044 with a billet bracket for sale before long (Barely used)

Cheers

Les,
Sorry I can't give you the tank measurement yet, the car is at the upholesterer until Friday. I will measure it when I get the car back.
I measured the VZ ute pump I have and it is 220mm long compressed, the pot is 120mm long and 100mm dia.

Warren
