Default Best Ford Small Block Heads

Has anyone heard of Chi heads?
They are supposedly Aussie and the best flowing out of the box.

thanks,

Tommy

Thanks,
I have Trick Flow "O" ring twisted wedge AL heads and was surprised when someone told me there was better out there, out of the box.
Quite a bit of info on the site.

A few years back I use to drop by Kasse's shop to shoot the bull from time to time, not anymore. I remember he was just starting to build those 'monster' motors. Hell of a nice guy...

Thomas Gayer

Tommy,

Give John a call on 011 613 9583 5727 in Melbourne Australia..asbout 15 hours time diffference.

They are located in the east Melbourne suburbs and are well known in the Ford GT car club circles.

McDonald Racing have also used their 4v cast Clev. heads. Have not heard any negatives.

I have chi heads on my cleveland, I replaced the 4V boss heads and could not have asked for a better engine upgrade. Bought mine from T-Meyer in Minn.

Yates if your prepared to build the rest of the motor to suit- pistons-pushrods-header bolt pattern.

Chi or 3v if you have a 351c, Boss 302 & dont want get into the piston dept, and want all the original bits to fit ( although the intake manifold to match these heads is a virtual must ). I've built a couple of race motors using these and am real happy with the results.

Bernie,
All the Hurricane Katrina water finally drained out of my clock, so 15 hours would be 8:30 tonight if it is 5:30 am here on Wednesday. I was thinking of the Chi Chi s for my GT40 neutral balanced motor instead of those 69 D0OE s I have. You should see my 6foot 110 kg frame get into that little thing. <g> Would it be too much to ask what size jets you are running primary and secondry in your Holley dp? Thanks awfully much.

Tommy

Thomas Gayer

Tommy,

Best to 'Google' - time in Melbourne Australia there and you will get the dead accurate time then..

After driving the GT40 in the States - we did the Phoenix Az. along Route 66 to London Ohio for the London Cobra show - I know what folding 6' and 110 is all about.

Although, I was very comfortable driving the GT40 in all conditions. It did take a while to get reversing sorted..

Hit my elbow once on the park brake when changing gear in anger - Hershal was asleep at the time.. Had the GT40 flying along the freeway..

..Holley

Re the Holley I have reverted back to the stock set up after trying various jets in various applications..

Currently I have 72f and 78r I think these are the stock set up.... I have checked the engine at 12:1 air fuel ratio and it's running quite well with the stock set up.

# I set the floats so that the fuel is just trickling out slowly. Played a lot with the mixture screws to get it smooth.

# Tried 68f and 72r and with the cam found that it was all over the place with the air fuel through the rev range. I played with squirters, float settings, jets, springs and accerator pump and eventually settled on the stock set up again as it was an out of box package. I felt the carby was ideal for the motor and my requirements.

I even tried cam settings in early days with advance of 2 degree - I think.... - it was a set up I tried for lower to mid range torque.

I have had a 650dp on it for a while after borrowing it off a build engine with 71f and 76r and even took that to 70f and 76r thinking it made a great difference with cruising.

So after all that back to the stock jetting and all appears OK.

.. are you confused now.

Interestingly, the NASCAR motors with small blocks run 500 - 600HP using a Holley 390 2 barrel and they even have restricting plates..... I often wondered if I had been over carburating the engine with the 650 and the 750. Then again, it is what you do with the right foot and what you expect.. so in went the NOS 150HP jet set up..

Did you pull the Quadrajet setup and switch back to the Holley Bernie?

Cheers

Aussie Mike

Had the old manifold on and the Holley with the old cleaner.

Now all legal again...

This was how it was previously set up. So gave it a try again and it was back to the new economy set up....and legal good boy. No NOS gas connections....
