Default Even the Manly ferry was surfing

I'm justing sitting here at work and waiting for contractors to finish - nothing to do but watch news television. Sun is out and I should be driving the Cobra or riding my bike... or

The weather here at the moment is all over the place. I was just watching the 'Sunrise' weather report which had the Manly ferry crossing the harbour in 2 metre swell.

It looked like a leg of the Sydney Hobart yacht race. It's bow hitting the top of waves and covering the entire ferry in heavy spray.

I have never seen the levels of flooding and rain we are experiencing. Sydney 17 and rain...

I think the praying for rain may have been been heard..

Not the best Cobra weather....

Our tanks are full down here and the grass in green all around the town.

Hi Bernie,

Its's been a while since I have logged in here "STUART", but the weather is really fustrating me at the moment just got my car registered on Friday.

I drove it on Thursday first time in the the rain not a pleasant situation especially at the traffic lights, wipers didn't do much as most of the spray was coming in on the inside of the screen.

The car is sitting at work waiting for the weather to change so I can drive it home.

Stuart

A FERRY SURFING????? I would love to see that. I surfed my 30 footer down the face of 20 foot waves singlehanded. I was to new to know any better. Ignorance can be bliss. Next I surfed my 46 foot cat on 10 foot waves @ 17 knots, and loved watching the rooster tails.

The 30 footer I was huddled up in a corner, and it was a rocking. The cat I was standing straight up facing aft in the cockpit watching the sterns with a coffee mug sitting on the house roof. 2 complete different animals......

Good to hear that you were able to get out and drive the Cobra. Even if it was raining.

It's amazing how much water gets on the inside of the screen.

Being caught in the rain once or twice, I find I use a chamois on the inside of the screen and along the door tops to stop the water dripping in.

I also keep my right foot off the accelerator in the wet...

Perhaps the sun will be shinning and you will have a good drive back from work...

Bernie

It was amazing to watch the 100 plus foot ferry crashing through the waves and rolling along with the swell. It was a real beat on the bow with the spray flying overhead.

Guess it would have been fun for the hundreds of commuters who were on board heading from Manly to the Sydney business district for work...

Surprising also to see the level of swell in the Sydney Harbour..

Ferry surfing ? What about Tanker surfing. Have a look at abc.net.au/newcastle and check out a beached tanker and all the flood scenes around town...boy what a nightmare.. I went through 7 floods to get home that night. people drowned, cars floated away, houses flooded, no power , no phone ( even mobiles were stuffed ) DAMN I didn't get anything done on the Cobra that night. I had to find where my fence blew away to and stop the stream of water coming into my house...bloody distractions !
One bonus..the shed was dry.

Rob

Good to see that you were not washed away.

That tanker sure has some coverage.

I just saw a photo taken in the rear view car mirror showing the tanker behind. Looked at the caption above the tanker image and it read read..

Objects may appear closer than they actually are in mirror - great...

Water - rain. Noahs Ark could be a carpark

Guess this what has happened after all the prayers for rain were offered..
