New Ford Tuning Software
For those of you using Ford 'puters and thinking about going to an aftermarket 'puter then you may want to check this out.
http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...3&page=1&pp=25
It's basically an affordable flash tuner that includes the software! So you can DIY the tune.

Having just evaded this whole process through a Ford contact but talking with a CAPPA dealer, I thinks its great to have another option. It will only pull the price down with time one hopes.

Good old Ford
I have only two wires to make my engine run.
12 Volts for ignition and a starter wire.
So who needs all the fancy puter stuff.
Cheers,
Bryan

you forgot the batt wire to starter and earth strap hhehehe
anyway i love how they say anyone can tune their car at home hehehe
they dont tell u that u need months of prcatice to get it right and even learn the software
and u need an air fuel ratio meter last one i bought cost me 600 bucks
i have the hp tuners software and the usa guys are trying to come up with software to do fords aswell
so maybe by end of year hp tuners software will do both holdens and fords
i would npt be game to start tuning any holdens at this point
would take months of practice on someones car to get it right
as goin thru the menus on the software there is so many paramiters to play with

On the subject of tuning Fords. I spoke to several performance chip vendors when I had my Pursuit 250. None of them had a tune that would gain much more than 10 or 20 KW. Not real good bang for buck so I left it stock. This also made me think there wasn't a lot left in the standard 347 motor. To make any significant gains you would need a set of good heads and a change of cam.
I built a Wideband O2 sensor setup. The company Tech Edge offer theit 2A0 wideband O2 in kit form so I bought one and put it together. I do a bit of surface mount soldering with my work so I'm fairly handy with a soldering iron. I also built the LED display unit so that you can see your readings on the dash.
It seems to work OK but I've got to weld a couple of extra O2 bungs in my side pipes to test it properly.
Check them out: Tech Edge
Cheers
