Default Best place to shop/buy.

I think Im getting close to a decision based on the following.

A. Not technically minded enough for a build, nor have the tools..

B. Dont want the worry of ADRs etc so I want something registered.

C. I cant afford a new turnkey.

So this leaves me with looking at purchasing second hand. Im sure I will get plenty of satisfaction with restoring/renewing/personalising the car to suit my needs.

So its time to look.

Maybe a silly question, but where is the best place to look for a second hand Cobra? Web? Which sites? Magazines? Which ones?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Sled

Join your state Cobra club. Thats also gets you the Snaketales Mag where you'll find some interstate cars for sale.

Keep looking at the interstate club sites. Here is the Queensland site:

http://www.cobracarclubqld.org.au/

Cars will often be advertised on the State sites.

There's a couple on ebay at the moment, one's $30k and another is $55k. There's another one on carpoint.com.au for $44k, one on drive.com.au for about $43k. So I'd keep my eye on those sites, in addition to Les's advice... generally people selling cars will already be in a club and that's your best source.

Cheers,
Paul

Default Carpoint

Sled,

Check the spots Sambo and Rebel1 have suggested they will provide the best sources. There are actually 8 cars for sale on www.carpoint.com.au

Make sure you search for "AC", "Cobra" and "Replica" and you should see all the cars for sale. I have found they are not always under the make as "AC". There are some nice cars for sale by a quick look.

Cheers

Tony

How much do you want to spend, Sled.
Everything's for sale. Even mine. It just depends on the price!

Very difficult question.

Im not quite ready yet, I still have to end the lease on my current vehicle, then pay the residual, then sell. I will make a few dollars on that deal then look at my total finances. I was thinking around the 50k mark. Obviously I would love to pay way cheaper for something way better!!!

Oh...and whilst I am a dark sider, I am open to all options.

The Blue DRB is my sister car (pretty sure it was built by a Jag Parts place at Slacks Creek)

Based upon the price it looks like these cars are lifting in value!

Good news for those lucky enough to own one

Is that the 2005 build or the 1997 build?

The 2005 build looks awesome. I wish they had some pics of the interior.

If its the same as mine (and I think it is except for the engine size) then it will be a DRB2000 with the non traditional dash (moulded).

Check my gallery and you should see a similar cockpit layout (mine has XR8 instrumentation) as apposed to the after market dials you often see.

When you get one. (congradulations) And you want to get "things" done to your Cobra; ask the "mechanic" about modifications and prices without saying its a Cobra...It's funny how prices rise when you mention it's an AC Cobra.
