Default Off to Canada

As I mentioned to a few at the last Vic Cobra Club meeting, it looks like work will be sending me off to live in Canada a couple of years (and I thought Melbourne was cold!!).

The car’s been moved around to my parents place and hopefully my Dad will continue with it while I’m O/S. I'm sure I'll still be asking plenty of questions on the forum as my Dad's not the most PC literate person.

Also, not sure how feasible it’s going to be but, does anyone know what’s involved with buying a car in the US and bringing it back to Aust??? I'm thinking a nice shiny Kirkham

Luke.......

Good luck over there Luke, I'm sure you'll have a blast...

How about importing a turnkey minus roller (RHD of course)??? You would still be going through the ICV process to get it registered??? I would think that the vehicle standards people shouldn't care in this case, because you will be getting it engineered, ADR'd etc. etc. I would guess you'll still have to pay duty and GST though.....

What did you go wrong to get transfered to Saskatchewan?
Don't compare all of Canada to Saskatchewan.
That's like comparing all the USA to North Dakota.
It does go from +90 Deg - -40 Deg. and is flat prarie country.
Saskatoon is OK, however southern Saskatchewan is, oh well, you will find out.

Thumbs up

I live in Toronto. Right now it is about 90 degrees! If you are coming to town, let me know, and I'll buy you a beer!

We're in a bidding war to buy me some beer... I love Canada already

Don't worry BEH, I'm going into this thing with eye wide open. From a work point of view, its a great opportunity. As you say Saskatoon itself looks like an ok place. It could be worse.....A friend of mine is working on a construction site up at Snap Lake (up near the Arctic Circle )) where during last winter it got down to -65degC. I didn't know temperature could go down that low!!!!

All the best,
Luke.....

Default engines

Luke,

I was in Canada a couple of years ago, what a magic place Lake Louise is absolutely fantastic.

A word of warning, a 5 litre motor is not LARGE over there,,,,,, the normal 8.3 litre turbo is NORMAL
