You might want to look at some of the vinyl wrapping films that are out there now. 3M 1080 film comes in a heap of different colors and finishes. It looks pretty easy to cut and apply to a small area like a stone guard.

The OziShield and VentureShield are quite good and I had the latter type earlier. They can be quite tricky to fit perfectly over the compound curves around the rear wheel arch, particularly on the Harrison which also has lip around the edge. When they become pock-marked from stones, you need to be very careful removing them, as chunks of paint can come as well if you are don't prepare well and go very slowly.

In the Street Machine magazine issue that beejay's cobra was in the cover car was an XY which had been wrapped. Also a friend who runs a custom paint shop has a 'wrap guy' who does cars, bonnets, stripes and whatever else you can think of..... Some splats I would imagine would be no dramas.

I saw that same article and it got me interested in the idea. I've been taliking with a couple of wrap specialists about a few ideas. One bloke who seems pretty good to me has had a matt black Camaro in a recent issue of Street Machine. He's done some amazing work on other cars.
He recently wrapped a Top Doorslammer 55 Chev to look like an old barn find rusted car.

There was also a Porsche 911 done a few years ago in silver. The film is flexible but is it tough enough to take the stones our cars throw up on the rear wheel arches?

OK I spoke to Rob at G Force and he thinks that they may be the same as an RMC?? can anyone confirm? He also seems to remember borrowing the moulds from Don at Snakebite if he could get them he has a guy that will make the guards price would be $495 a pair.
I can tell you the stainless stone guards from DAX, although very nice, are a very different shape. I ordered a set with my bumpers and had to sell them on.

How about aluminum rear wheel well spat's? They could polish out the scratches allot easier than stainless. Vinal spats might leave scratches on the paint. Besides, would the material spat's might shrink in the sun after a while.
This wouldn't work for those who're bling conscious but it's what I did for spats. I used an aerosol type undercoating which goes on very easy, is very resilient and doesn't look half bad. That's my own humble opinion there, but here are some pics.

Never had either problem. The padded, backed vinyl as in my gallery has been terrific. No shrinkage at all and no scratches over a couple of years. Easy to detach for cleaning also.
