It Runs... Woohoo!!!
Yep that's right, the picture doesn't show much but it is running (the laptop is logging in the background)... Had a bit of trouble starting it initially though, but thanks to my eagle eyed friend the Crank angle sensor was plugged in (that's not an easy task either) and away she went. With the exhaust just exiting the collectors, my little Niece was scared witless as soon as it fired and ran inside crying. Everything is playing the game except for a minor hick-up, (like blowing a radiator hose off that wasn't tightened properly)....

Great stuff Bobby.
The only problem you will have now is doing jobs that don't have anything to do with firing it up!

Would love to pop around and admire you're handy work when I'm back home in Perth next...
I promise I won't cry if you start her up..well, not from being frightened anyway!
Did a date/venue ever get set for the Perth based CC forum readers get together?
Regards....Paul

Well done Plums! Just wondering, what is it that you're logging on the LS1 and is there equivalent software for later (L76) engines? If it's things such as top speed, fuel economy, etc, that would be really handy for race days.

Bobby well done, I know the feeling well.
In fact I had some local primary school kiddies in the garage the other day as part of junior mechanics program and noticed a couple flinch when I rev'd the car. And I bet mine sounds tame compared to yours!!
Anyway what's your new rego ETA timetable?
Cheers
Steve

Open Pipes
Plums,
That is just the best when you fire it up for the first time.
Congratulations.

Sambo, I use HPTuners software which is what most tuners in the country use now. It now also supports all the new 6 litre engines (though I haven't bought any of the 6 litre licences and probably won't).
I was using the scanner just to check that everything was running ok, (I just flashed my MAFless Ute program into it) and to manually turn on the fan if I had to. The fuel trims were very positive but I reckon that's just because the engine is still new and tight, and the O2 sensor signal being slightly diluted by fresh air. I will tweak the fuel trims after I have the full sidepipes on I guess. Everything else was doing the right thing so I'm pretty happy.
Using the scanner at the track is a great idea! I log every run at the dragstrip and tweak it slightly if I have to. That's how I get an unopened LS1 Ute to do 11 second quarters...
The advantage of logging at the circuit, (apart from all the engine related information) is the TPS, RPM and speed displays. These will show your weaknesses, (perhaps?) which you may use to improve your performance at that particular track....

Getting her going is a sensational feeling.
Helps to keep you going if the build gets tiresome - fire her up and the giddy exitement and motivation returns (probably because there's less oxygen in the shed now )
Keep pluggin away and you'll be done before you know it

Went out to the shed today and started the Cobra to give it a run while looking at the speedo and reving the engine wondered why the tacho was not working
