Nothing shabby about a 11.61, but I know where you are coming from.
124 MPH means you getting some serious ponies out of that engine of yours and if everything goes right a much faster time.
Phil, how did your gearing work out?

That's good trap speed there...124mph is good enough for a very low 11, or even a high 10 if you nail the launch.
Phil should have been crossing the line at around 6400 rpm, without knowing his peak hp rpm, I'd say he's probably fairly close to optimum gearing.

Nearly there
I think the gearing is pretty good.
Drag racings looks very simple, but as I am finding out it is very complicated and other than the mechanics behind it, you need to be a very good pilot, expecially in a manual car.
I have given myself 12 months to do 10.99 I think I am in with a chance.
Some contriversay about the car as ANDRA were split whether the car could be "tech ed" or more to the point should it be. This was going on without me knowing as when I pulled up for scruteneering, they said you have finally turned up, we know all about this car.
Anyway it is approved and running great.
Phil

Phil,
nice work....
I know what you mean about the complexities. My last run at Willowbank, I had a nice mid 11's time and another forum member, who will remain nameless for the time being gave this advice.
You can go faster than that!!
- Do a really good 2nd gear warm up, smoke em'
- Give it about 4000 off the line and let the clutch out fast then nail it
The result;
- Grit teeth
- Big warm up (happy crowd)
- Pull up to the line
- Sweat
- bring up the revs
- Let out the clutch fast
Lurch.... Bang.... Crunch... Clunk.....
Lunched the CV joint... It just exploded. Seem's they were a faulty batch and it was replaced...
Drag racing will find ALL the weak spots in the drive line...
Have fun.
Cameron

A tip from a non-Cobra owner
Forget totally about the RT and go when you are sure you are ready to go. If you are just there to set a PB, forget about what is going on in the other lane and just do your own thing.
A 0.587 RT may mean you are rushing.
Something to think about.

All at the start
Lucky, no worries so you next time.
I am a victim of watching the lights, I will go when I am ready next time.
I was a bit of a softy and didn't want to hurt anything, I will work up to the hard launch a little at a time.
I have a spare set of new CV,s just in case.
Cameron, I saw your car at the nats. Missed not having you there.
Next year maybe.
Phil

Phil,
I was very sad to miss the Nat's It clashed with too many obstacles. But I have ShelbyFest in my sights for a return visit in 08. I also have the Nat's 08 on the calendar, but the dates will be crucial. If it's the weekend 27/28 Sept 2008, I'm sc#$ed. if it's Oct 3/4/5 I'm golden!
Richard kindly got my car to Goulburn and it's now back in a secret location having after burners fitted to keep up with you Thanks Richard, although I'm sure I had a Ford motor, I'm now told there is a LADA motor strapped in with Duct tape and a can of Aeroguard for boost
I have jealously read through the Nat's results and congratulate all who attended. You're all a pack of b$%^#ds and shouldn't be getting that much practice without me!!
Cheers
Cameron (now in Singapore heading to India tomorrow, neither which are known Cobra hubs)

Hi Big Boy,
My understanding would be that the Nationals are always on the long weekend ( Labour Day Monday for N.S.W.) which is the 6th. October in 2008, so you should be cool to get to the Nats......I hope so...you were missed and talked about a lot this year.
No matter how hard I tried to stop it..... there were those who chose to assassinate your character on a regular basis.....but as you know...I've got your back ma brutha.
Also....don't be surprised to see another canetoad or two at the Shelbyfest....can't have you being the only rep can we?
Regards,
Warren
