I think from memory that Hogster might have this brand of kit.
It was afew years ago now when the subject was bought up.
I think they are based in QLD

Thanks guys i have been looking atthe one on carpoint the guy is not a car nut and doesnt have much info on its says it has fairlane running gear
was trying to find out if live axle or IRS having not seen one in the flesh how do they present as a replica ( is the body shape fairly close?)

I was looking at one on the weekend at the gold coast with a friend .
The car is for sale for $55,000.00. It is being sold by the original manufacturer Peter D'Arcy-Evans . Here is his site:

Peter claims the car is being sold on behalf of one of his clients. The car presents very well. Quality fittings, excellent paint job etc. I did not drive it nor did my mate.
The De-Type is 50mm wider than a normal cobra but does not benefit from increase width in the cockpit owing to the 300mm wide center console.
I must admit I found this quite strange but the reason for the extra width was explained to be to run the ford rear end and to increase chassis strength.
Sadly I couldn't get a good look at the front to see how this extra width affected the fish mouth but extra width in the rear was very well disguised.
I suspect the original plug for the car was taken from an early BRB with the extra width added and the perky butt flattened out more like a Harrison or RMC.
I was quite impressed with the thickness of the body but whether it is worth $55,000 is for a buyer to speculate.

De type/ King Cobra
I've got a King Cobra, based on the former De type but modified after changing ownership.
Mine runs a standard ford XF rear, lsd and suspension with watts link.
There are photos in my gallery I think.

The kit is larger than an original, but the payoff apparently is better handling.
I think mine looks pretty good....

I know this De-Type is for sale in Canberra for $55000.It is the stretched version which is 4 inches longer and wider.Very well built with 5 litre mustang motor.Will give more info on contact details if interested.

Peter - the guy pictured in the previous post is about 6' 10" two pick handles across the shoulders and he built the D-Type as it is the only Cobra he could fit in. They have plenty of cockpit space and leg length.

The thing I'm not too keen on visually is the windscreen height in relation to the lower body height. I personally think its out of proportion.
They certainly look like a good cruising machine, but not as authentic to teh shape of an original as other makes.
Then again, who am I to talk with my non traditional DRB

Time will tell
I am a fair way from driving mine yet(King Cobra), I am 6' even, Dave KING that builds them now is 6'5", and a big boy. he fits in his. Without getting into the authentic thing, they look pretty good, and the payoff is apparently
room and handling.
As stated, time will tell.
I have nearly finished the engine, and hope to have a running go cart before too long. with the trickie 347 I'm sure it will be enough to have some significant pucker value.
