VDO Fuel Tank Sender

Hi Guys
Its Sunday (VDO supplier not open) and I am putting in the fuel tank sender and notice the whole thing has no cover and could actually sit in the fuel. This is a 12v variable resistor which potentialy could spark (am I missing something).
The sender is a VDO float type. What have you other VDO users done or is this not an issue.

The VN sendor Im using has no cover - is basically submerged. I dont think it is an issue as it is measuring resistance and there is minimal (no?) current running through it. Thats my very basic understanding but anyone more electronically inclined may be able to clarify better.

Yep, not an issue. Plenty of vehicles running around with those VDO float levels. I've installed 2 of them so far.

Even submerged pumps run safely and reliably.

I hope you haven't used any silicone anywhere near that fuel tank. Silicone just hates fuel, turns into some sort of evil jelly type substance. But I expect you already know about that.

Everything screwed up nice and tight. Regulator right up near fuel rails.Push on fittings just like the factory. With some speedwell connectors plus braided hose for bling. Filled up tank turned ignition key on/off a couple of times and hey presto pressure at regulator NO LEAKS (yet).

Didn't even think about that one, could have been dangerous.

My tank had the right ring fitting atop ready to take the VDO circular flange, so I didn't even stop to consider explosions.

Nothing's blown up ...yet!
