Fitting gauze panels
Was wondering about the best/neatest way to fit the small gauze panels on the front vents of a Harrison ( oil cooler vent and brake vents)? Could screw to f/glass but that is thin. Could use Sikaflex but that is fixed. Any suggestions?

Merv, after getting a nutsert tool on the weekend I can see myself using it all over the car, including fibreglass panels. Maybe see if you can borrow one and try the m3 or m5 inserts with the gauze.

Mine are held in place with stainless self tappers into the fiberglass.

Good point Stephen, I think I lot of people(me included) fit them mostly for looks though.
You can just use small bolts through that internal inner guard wall to affix.
Or screw through the brake duct flange, inside to outside to affix mesh. Gives a more vintage/original look. Although a bit tricky to do. My current Cobra is done this way.

Sikaflex is the way to go.........
Brake Vents - mould the mesh around the opening and glue on
Oil Cooler Vent - left open
Bonnet Vent - again mould to the opening and glue on (I have a very wide opening and was finding that at speed it was stressing where the vent is moulded to the bonnet. The mesh prevented further stressing).

Thanks all! I am thinking that they are cosmetic only and if fitted then either bolted to the adjacent chassis frame or using Sikaflex. I was only going to use the mesh over the cooling vents not over the oil cooler vent or the radiator opening. May also use some of the chromed steel mesh if I can find some, instead of the ally.

Did you get the vents mesh from Finishline?. I found them there and they were reasonably price.
www.snakebite.com.au has them also.

I prefer the look of the alloy expanded mesh. I've only seen the stainless mesh in that woven wire type design. |

Yes I have the expanded alloy mesh now and I am not sure about the woven wire SS mesh - it does look 'period' in some ways. I could not imagine where one could buy or even see it!

The stainless mesh can be obtained from Europa Spares in England. They sell it in kit form for Cobra's Grill, brake and oil cooler openings.
