Wheels from Vintage Wheel Works US
Has anyone bought wheels from these guys?
Vintage Wheel Works
They seem quite nice ones and great prices. I am not sure how they would fit to a Harrison Cob with 17 inch rims, e.g., offsets, bolt patterns, backspace, etc., and if the 8", 9" or 9.5" is the way to go. (I am so metric these days!). I was thinking of running 245s on the front and 285 rear. Any
suggestions or advice most welcomed.

Merv, I think Craig White (400TT) has imported a set for his RMC.
I don't know about the Harrison but the wheels are not a bolt on with the RMC.
Very very nice wheel tho.

Thanks for that. Will check with Craig also. Warwick has one in his shed that has these wheels bolted straight on. They do look great and are almost half the price of the Qld-made ones I was looking at!

Yes mate, the price is great considering the quality.
I was interested in a set until I found they had the wrong backspace for the RMC.
Bit of a bugga actually.

Sorry Merv, mine are Vintage Wheels US wheels.
They look like a nice bit of kit, but I no nothing about the company or the quality of the products to provide any worthwhile feedback.

Was good to chat on the phone today Craig. Learned a lot. Will get the backspace and rim/wheel measurements from the one at Warwick's and then make some enquiries. They may be half the price of equivalent ones here.

Wheels
Merv,
I'd be interested in any info you get from Warwick about these wheels for my Harrison. They look like a nice wheel and the price looks great...
I am assuming you have the R32 rear end and the factory front end with VR commodore hubs?
regards
Mick

Merv, Warwick has my rims at his shop at the moment (if they are the ones you looked at) which are from Vintage wheels US. I have the backspace measurements if you want them. I had to flare the front guards and use a custom rear end to get them to fit. Some pics in my gallery.
Cheers Greg

Greg/Mick/Merv,
Guys I did the exercise some months ago after seeing how nice the Vintage wheels were but ended up being disappointed that they couldn't manufacture them to the oddball backspace on the Harrison. At this stage I'm not interested in widening the arches or fitting a different rear end.
To me, the only ones that seem to fit whilst looking "authentic" are the Millaz wheels. However in anything over 15" diameter they have a rolled/stepped lip because (I think) the centres are all one size. Oh, and he's asking $3500 a set.
Still, please report your findings here as I'm hoping to be proven wrong!

Thanks Greg and Mick. No Greg they were not yours apparently and Warwick insists they are from Vintage Wheel WORKS (not Vintage Wheels US) and bolt on readily. I am using a 17" wheel that should reduce the bulge a little. I have have the Commodore front end with Ford bolt pattern and the Nissan rear. Will keep checking with him and the guys in the States.

I have bought the BRM wheels, spinners from :: Welcome To Vintage Wheels ::
who advertise here with our host. Great to deal with, great wheels, and quality is second to none. Very helpful too with figuring out backspacing, etc.

Merv, if they are bolt-on, they are not Vintage Wheels US wheels. So sounds like you are on the right track with the Vintage Wheels Works source.
Good luck with it.

Merv;
I have their V40's in 17" on my car. They are great to deal with and build a high quality wheel, pretty much any way you want it. The only thing I would do differently is order the valve stem holes cut in the barrel instead of on the outer part of the wheel.

Just spoke with Bill Glidden who imported the wheels from Vintage Wheel Works (contact Eli) and they went straight on to Warwicks hubs - 17" wheels with 8" front and 10" rear, with no body mods or spacers. I will have the specs soon (backspace measurements). Arrived in two weeks with no duty. About $800 delivery inc. fright and GST (which could be avoided by sending in two lots I suspect). Wheels were $300.00 each.
