Daytona/Robnell Factory Tour
Update 1.
As the Victorian Meeting was cancelled last night due to the weather
I thought I should keep people in the loop, as there are some interstaters.
Richard would like the group to be there at 11am so we will need to leave at app 9.30/45am from the BP in St Kilda. This is a bit earlier than originally planned. So we can meet for Brekky before hand for those locals and we will arrange lunch at one of the pubs in the Dramana area afterwards.
I place another update closer to the date.

I'm picking up a few interstaters and a country Vic member from the Airport at about 8:30 AM. We should get to the BP St Kilda meeting point before 9:30AM.
Really looking forward to this event.
Cheers

Does anyone have any more info on this Daytona/Robnell factory? I've never heard of it but it sure sounds interesting.

Stiffy, yes I have been to Thailand but alas it was with the cheese n kisses so none of that.
I don't have any specific questions, just keen to know what this factory is all about. Eg, are they building these cars again or is it a museum of sorts, or...? Thanks for any info.

SAMBO,
They are building their version of the Daytona Coupe and have purchased the old Robnell JIGS and plan to build turnkey Robnells again.

Here is a short overview.
http://borland.netvelocity.com.au/about/daytona.php
Richard Bendell(Motec) is both a Daytona Replica builder and purchased what was left of Robnell.
Edit: Pipped by Stiffy, don't you hate that.

Yeah, bit of a bugger that! My normal 20 min trip there took over 1 hour (roads clogged due to inclement weather). Then when I got there, the RSL was shut due to power outage!

I assume the date is still Sat 26 April??
For anyone who would like to go straight there, rather than picking up a couple of girls in St Kilda who REALLY LIKE YOU, what is the factory address Stiffy??
I'm a newbie to the Victorian Cobra Club, so I was just wondering whether you'd ever done a factory tour of Roaring Forties in Heidelberg Heights? It's just around the corner from my place, so I'd been interested in going in for a look (and preliminary scoping of a GT40 to be added to the garage in the future). I don't want to steal your thunder Stiffy, but I was wondering whether anyone else would be interested if I was able to organise something? If it's already been done recently, I wouldn't want to hassle them again!

Sorry Buddy I rang all those I had on my phone after first calling TC at about 5.45pm when I too found the RSL in darkness and a sign saying gon fishin.....
It was topical though as I was in a company car (electrical industry) and they were hoping I was there to fix the power, but that's not my bag!
Anyway I'd be interested in a visit to the RF shed too.

I was at the RF factory a few weeks back.
The guys are currently getting set up and going through boxes as they had only just moved in.
I asked about a club tour and they appeared receptive but are obviously looking at getting everything set up.
I'll follow up in a few weeks.

Factory Visit
Will meet you there - have to pick up the cobra first.
Looking forward to catching up with everyone.
Good idea to visit Arthur's Seat while in the area - some nice scenic touring to be done in the area
Pity about the squiggly road though

Yeah, it is a real pity about the squigly road, the only pity is the other traffic on it.
The side pipes will sound fantastic coming off the mountain side, I think Your car will deafen people on the cable chair LoBelly.

I'm joining the tour on Saturday. Since my Cobra is still being built we'll be in the Golf. See you at BP at 9.30am. Let's hope the weather holds out!
