Well I have just had my first sexual experiance with my Cobra, but not as you may think I pushed her outside the workshop for a wash and then back inside for a polish. The old girl doesnt come up to bad so we are of to a good start. I came to the conclusoin that anyone who cant understand how us mere males love these cars should spend some time polishing one. They are just like the female form all the right curves in all the right places, there is hardy a flat straight panel on these bodies. The seats are going in to get reuhpolstered on monday and hopefully the engine and gearbox will be out on Tuesday for a service and coat of paint. Now the problem is do I paint the engine Ford light blue, Black or aluminium? New manifold and carby should be here before the engine goes back in on Friday and we will start her up on the weekend. The plan is to be registered and on the road before the V8s which is July 4,5 and 6 July and seeing as its my birthday on the 7th I might actually have the Monday off and spend the day cruising. well thats the plan anyway.

Cobraed
Sounds like a good plan to me!
Paint the block black it hides more sins and "blue on green should never be seen" anyway!!
Not sure about the all the right curves, as my missus has the right curves, just that they are larger than when we first met!
Anyway you have a goal so stick to it and get to the V8's in style.
Cheers

Being a Ford motor you will have to paint it boat anchor blue.

Only stirring the pot Cobraed.
If you stick around a while you will notice I like to stir the put, especially when it comes to the boat anchors (but it is all tongue in cheek)

Gee I hadnt noticed
actually the ls1 and the 302w both weight 460lbs and if its a 5.0L then is only 450lbs. now remove the cast iron manifold and exhaust and fit a set of alloy heads and your very close to 400lbs, so when we drop one of each of the end of a wharf which one hits the bottom first

You could also ask which one would stay there longer.
My thought on that is Ford paint em blue to match the surrounding water, because the cast iron will last alot longer than the aluminium.

Well another week has come and gone and the progress is not happening. The first batch of parts from Finish line turned up and I thought that it wont take long, I'll put the glass windwings on. To much rush just tighten it a little bit more whoops where is it gone, here it is all these little square peices of glass all over the floor and bench. Refer back to rule 1 "To much haste makes waste" reordered a new set of windwing but this time in perspex. Hopefully the job that is currently interferring with the Cobra time will be finished today and all the other parts will be here so I can spend all next week on it.

Probably not this year as im in the process of building a new workshop and setting up a business doing ceramic coating so its going to be a very busy year maybe next year though. If all goes well I may do a road trip the Alice for one of the drag meetings. Now theirs an idea how about a Shelby only Cannonball run style event Alice Springs to Ayers Rock and back

I had a go at the drag strip last Sunday.
Had some issues first with the driver (me) then with the car.
Managed a 13.782 on my first run (with a .586 reaction time) and through the traps at 96.3mph, but this was my first run, and the people running the event told us taht there would be cones on the outside of the track, so when I went I was watching tacho and centreline more than the outside of track, I got to where I thought the end would be and looked, couldnt see any cones so I knocked it into neutral (thinking I had gone through the finish) then about 50 metres later I rolled over all these white lines going accross the track, this was the finish.
My fastest speed through the traps was 104.5mph.
But after my first run I had alot of problems with flooding, silly me had not fitted an Air Intake Sensor, I have done this now and took the car for a road test last night, no more fouling.
