Gawd, I'm confused.

Are you fellas using the word "hoar" as in the adjective meaning white or grayish white, white or gray with age, old, ancient, moldy, musty.

or

Is it cuz ya can't spell "whore"

Red face oh no i soiled my pants.

I took the cobra for another test drive today i drove very well
and goes like sh17 of a teflon shovel. wow it realy impressed me it felt faster than the celica if that is possible only had one problem i did a u turn in the unused part of road i was using and didnt get the shifter set in to ratchet mode and got to about 120 kph and shoved it into reverse well thats a new one for me and guess what happend first it locked the back wheels then once i slowed to about 60 it started turning the engine backwards and then it started running backwards i turned of the ignition and it finally stopped oh bugger i though. I wonder what i broke took a few tries to fire it up and it went sounded normal and so drove it home with my heart going about 190bpm all the way.
Well i learnt a couple of things you can put a car in reverse at speed and it does make the engine run backwards. Soo if it goes bang at nationals you know why.
other than that i am happy with it now for some track testing it had not trouble hazing the 315 pzeros on the back even in 3rd.
Cant wait to get it on slicks .

Oz

I reckon I know the feeling. And it might be karma!!

Well before my little episode at my favourite roundabout, I approached this very same round about and did a U turn to head back home.

Gave it some stick and went to change down to 3rd if I remember rightly but with my failing T5 found first unwittingly.

When I finally had the sense to stand on the clutch and stop the arse end wagging like a dogs tail, it was then I think I unclenchened the old sphincter muscle.

I too dawdled home with nothing to indicate mechanical failure and the heart going two to the dozen.

Remember having the car sense to keep it in the same lane though I suspect the back end was visiting both sides of the white lines!!

The new gear box should help cure this for me.

Cheers

Sounds like everyone has 'little' errors when setting their car up, can't say I am jealous of you selecting reverse at 120 klicks.
I have to say I am very happy with the auto in my car. I have not manualised it but have tricked up the speed and pressure through the PCM. The factory PCM also allows you to have two 'tunes' or shift patterns which are selectable with the factory power and economy setting.
As for engine braking, I found that before the valve gear in my engine shat itself at Shelby fest I was able to get the arse end to lock up while shifting down gears. Whether I wanted to or not!!
Price is good too, I would probably select a 4l80E trans when this one dies, even then they are only around $1000 new.

Looking forward to catching up with you Scotty at the Nationals, and you can tell me some stories about my trailer!!

Gav

My first heart fluctuation happened today.
Gav Sounds like you have done similar to me. Today I took the car down to the tuners and he played with the shift patterns to give a quicker shift. Drove it home and coming into the intersection suddenly found the engine kept up the revs, put the brakes on and the front wheels locked but the car kept going ahead skidding on the front wheels.
Stopped on the other side of the intersection by turning the key off. Problem found was the carpet had moved forward and jammed the accelerator.
Interesting experience.

Default first Track run

Well Matt and i took the cobra for few laps of morgan park to day it went very well it stops turns in nice but the rear is a little loose so i will give another alignment and see if it has settled in the suspension and changed any settings.
The gearing feels good though it wont win any drag races with the tall gearing and tall tyres its a slug offf the line.

cant wait to get to wakefield and give it a blast.

see you there guys
Gav hope the trailer gets you there.

It never actually blew up..... I just broke it !!

You see, little things that go wrong, can sometimes grow into nasty things.

A little thing like a gauze pick up on the oil pump falling off inside the sump, with no indication that anything has happened.

Everything is fine, until something that the gauze should've stopped, gets up into the engine.

Then hit a patch of water on slicks whilst acellerating hard in second, and the engine spins to 8,000 r.p.m. in about half a second, but long enough to break a bit off a valve spring.

Then the little bit of valve spring can't wait to get down to the sump, where the nice "open" end of the pick up takes it up into the pump impeller , and instantly jams it.

Then the oil pump drive, stopped at the bottom, but still turning at the top, becomes something that looks like a "drill bit", and breaks.

Not satisfied with that, it decides to locate itself between the crank, and the conrod, bringing EVERYTHING to an instant stop, which then breaks a timing chain etc. etc. et....bloody c.

I now have a few devices installed that will hopefully stop this sort of thing from happening.

The engine rebuilt ...( again )
this time also has........
New oil pump with sturdy pick up ( checked and checked again )
Rev Limiter installed at 7,000 r.p.m.
Shift light at 6,250 r.p.m.
Extra gauze patches glued over various holes in the valley to keep any "bits" from going south if we break anything.

Fingers crossed !!!!

See how it all goes in a few weeks I guess.

Warren.

Warren, reading your post was like watching an episode of CSI.

I should point out that the gauze used by GM would never fall off like that. Here we go again...!

Spooky
Are you using a rear diffuser like your other car? does it actually make a difference
Interesting you used the same paint job (my family thinks your paint scheme is the ducks nuts) the black and gold is a sticking combination with the JPS sign
Now truthfully is it any quicker than the other one?
