Hogster or Alffie
Hey there guys,
I have been trying to contact Jack in regards to the engineering on my car, I have been ringing his landline for about 3 - 4 weeks now but only manage to get his answering machine.
Do either of you have a mobile contact or any way of getting in contact with him.
I am trying to get the engineering side of things done for approval so I can take my car to the Nationals and not have to go in race class.

I have emailed him and have a reply (at least now I know he is still alive).
Have either of you asked him for an estimate of costs for engineering?
I did and I think it has upset him.

No, I haven't asked but we have discussed the process.
He told me to print off the VSB checklists and go through and fill out with as much detail as possible about the specifics of the vehicle. He indicated that this would make his job easier/faster and would reflect in the cost. That was encouraging when I am nearing the end of my spending budget.
Alfie has had a chassis inspection so should be able to tell you what that costs. I'll be interested to see the answer also.

My kit came with the chassis testing data.
Can I ask what the VSB checklist is?

Vsb 14
Gidday boxhead,
VSB 14 is the "vehicle standards bulletin" that relates to the National code of practice for light vehicle construction. http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roa.../vsb_ncop.aspx
In the subheaded sections there are a number of checklists that builders, engineers or inspectors can make reference to when checking compliance for specific areas of construction, or components.
So for example you go to the section on fuels systems and printout the checklist that relates to your type of fuel system, then check the boxes as you go through the issues identified. If you can tick off all the boxes, and explain the modifications you have made on the way, it makes the engineers job much easier.
Thats the general idea anyway. It gives you a heads up on what you need for compliance because the rules are also explained in the same documents.
Regards
Hogster
