Default L76 tune

My Ecu is on the way to the tuner, and i need to know what to tell him I need. This is what I can think of:

VATS off
No rear O2 sensors
No aircon\cruise control
One fan switched off the high speed pin (temp 95 deg?)
Intake\header details
Wipe it over with the magic rag

I assume this is the basics to get it to run, then after that he puts a decent tune in for a stock engine with MAF - any thing else you guys can think of?

Cheers

Just a question...why retain the MAF?

I know opinions vary on this, but advice I have on this is that the L76 100mm maf restircts airflow very little, and the benefit of having it outways a few extra kW. I need it for engineering anyway (I know I could mock it up) so have decided to put it in and leave it for now.

after u get the car started u need to get a scanner onto to it

then get all the error codes that it throws out and write them down

then find which ones are not applicable then resend the ecu to the tuner and get him to turn them off

all the ecus i get these days have my custom tune which actually fixes the fan problem on some tunes

as sideshow said you really need to stick a scanner on it once you get it back and started so you can see the rest of the codes that are on it..

there will be a few "lost coms with" errors for all the other devices that you ECU cant talk to like ABS and BCM

there will be a crank relearn code if the PCM is brand new

possibly a few fuel level sender errors

generator light, starter relay circuit maybe

those are just a few that will more than likely pop up.

Some good tips - thanks - Look like its a matter of letting the tuner know everything Ive left off from standard wiring.

Technical Q -Do you guys hook up X1-9 to the brake switch - someone told me that may be used in throttle control - or is it just used by cruise control?

its used for cruise and power tourqe management.

if the tuner puts a tune in the for some decent power then he will disable torque management any way (easy way to make the engine feel like a totally different beast) .. so leave it out.

if you dont mind me asking who are you using to tune it?

Good choice. Steve did my tune. You are right about the less restrictive MAF in the L76. If Steve has advised you to leave it in, far from it for me to argue.

good thing with goin mafless is u save 250 bucks on having to buy a maf meter and u dont have to wire up the missing maf plug

i have 2 sets of ecus

one for maf and another set for mafless

and when u run mafleess we then wire up an ls1 air temp sender in place of the maf meter cause once u remove the maf u loose the air temp sender

No shortage of unwanted MAFS over at LS1.com. Mostly they finish up in the bin.
