Thanks Ed,
Wasnt as quick as I would have liked, a few things went against me.

before the first run the officials got us together for a driver brief and mentioned that toward the end there was 3 cones each side of the track, Last cone being 1/4 mile, so once your past it you may as well slow down.

Well they sent me out first as a solo run (since I hadnt done this sort of thing since I was 19). Well I was busy watching the tacho and the centre line more than the outside edges of the track, I got to where I figured 1/4 mile was and looked up, couldnt see any cones so I knocked it into neutral, continued rolling and then I cross over a heap of white lines going accross the track, this was the finish line.
I made my way back to the start area and the guys with the time stubbs said, "we forgot to mention the cones arent there anymore".
Well I ended up having 8 goes at it but after the first run I had a problem (due to me not fitting an Air Intake Sensor.
Below are 2 time slips, the first being my first run (slow top speed) and the second being my highest speed (car flooding off the line)
You will also notice my reaction times are terrible (something to work on)

That top speed run was when I was racing against an impreza, Below is a pic from just after the start line, you can see the black soot comming out my side pipes as the car is trying to clear itself.

Not the first time, and I guess it wont be the last time.

I guess it is just because I have a little one.

Now that is a first.

Usually you girls complain we're way too quick .

No wonder we're confused little puppies.

MPH was quite good!!!

Improve those 60 footers and you looking clearly into the 12's (But I know they are hard to hook up.)

PS Dont worry about reaction times. The timer doesn't start till you cross the beam.

Oh, that burst my bubble, here I was thinking I could get close to the 12's just by improving my reaction time.

Oh well, better just make it run properly first, maybe do a bigger burnout to warm the tyres up and try not to loose traction.

Just get it running properly first then worry about the rest. As was said befor the reaction time is irrevelent to the et just keep the foot flat till after the lines at the finish line to get a good mph. Also how are you allowed to race without a roll bar?

faster is funner!!!!!

these beasts just cannot hook up well off the line. plenty of torque... yeah.... but getting the thing to MOVE and not just tire-spin is a problem.

I will make it a task to upload a time slip. Oh, and i've done it more than once!!!!

have fun out there!!
dragstrips are GREAT FUN, but man you gotta watch that rearend. ugh. Have you SEEN the videos of the car's just hopping right over the end????

I don't think a regularly setup Cobra is gonna last long at a strip......

oh- edit to add:
i completely AVOIDED the water box when i've done it 'for fun' at track events. Maybe with racing slicks it would be entirely different. I'm just running the goodyear billboards, certainly not made for the dragstrip. Pretty nice though on a road course.

If you are just there to get a good ET down, leave when you are ready to leave. Forget all about RT, it has zero impact on your ET or MPH.

Concentrate on a good 60' and you will get your times down.

It's all about practice.

And some Mickey tyres for the rear.

You've got to keep it in perspective, that's still a very quick 1/4 mile time. Well done mate.

How does you gearing work out at the end of the run? What rpm are you doing when you cross the 1/4 mile mark.

Exactly what I was saying...

Unless you know you are going to toast the other person, its good to let them get away and leave a few seconds later....or else...

Crossed the line at about 4500 - 5000 rpm in 4th gear.

13.675, That was the run where I had my highest speed, things kept getting slower from there as the plugs got more and more fouled and took longer to clear.
