Is it original???

I was at a local service station on the weekend and spotted what looked to be an original Cobra. Blue with white stripes, Halibrands etc. The give away was that it was LHD. Does anybody know of this car? It was immaculate. Im sure there would not be to many originals in Australia.

If it is the same car it is not an original, well depends on how you ask.

If it was in Melbourne, around the Yarra Glen area, i saw it too. It has club reg plates on it. I think it is a factory 5 car. nice looking car all the same. Did it have the race decals on it?

There are a number of US vehicles here at the moment - the dollar dictates that the good purchases are in the States at the moment.

Say a $30,000 dollar car landed etc. for under $40,000

The continuation series cars are Shelby plated with CSX numbers and they appear on the SAAC and Shelby registers kept by SAAC members - Ned S. from San Diego etc.

An aluminium car may not have the CSX number this would indicate that maybe it was built in Poland at the Mig. factory for Kirkhams or for Shelby and CSX plated prior to sale with a continuation number CSX 4.....

You need to check the car and identify it origin and then ask the question is it an original 2000 series, 4000 series etc - continuation cars.

Then to complicate things even more Superformance are now numbered and qualify to be included on registers.

If you are able to identify a car by it's CSX number, forum user Trevor Legate would be an ideal source to assist with identifying a car and it's history.

Just out of interest, I know of a brushed aluminium LHD and a blue 427 car in Victoria neither have CSX classification to my knowledge. I believe one may be an aluminium Kirkham and the second a glass car.

Great to see so many USA cars making there way here.
