105 YEAR OLD FILM CLIP

Air - La Femme D'Argent - YouTube

This film was "lost" for many years. It was the first 35mm film ever that has come to light. It was taken by camera mounted on the front of a cable car as it`s traveling down the street. You feel as if your really there, standing at the front looking down the street, amazing piece of historic film.
The number of automobiles is staggering for 1906. Absolutely amazing! The clock tower at the end of Market Street at the Embarcadero wharf is still there. ... How many "street cleaning" people were employed to pick up after the horses? Talk about going green!
Great historical film!

This film, originally thought to be from 1905 until David Kiehn with the Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum figured out exactly when it was shot. From New York trade papers announcing the film showing to the wet streets from recent heavy rainfall & shadows indicating time of year & actual weather and conditions on historical record, even when the cars were registered (he even knows who owned them and when the plates were issued!).. It was filmed only four days before the Great California Earthquake of April 18th 1906 and shipped by train to NY for processing. Amazing, but true!
No wonder there had to be laws created to regulate driving habits. This is insane.
This is a fascinating movie. A camera on the front of a street car 104 years ago.
Some of the cars had the steering wheels on the right side, I wonder when they standardized on the left? Sure was still a lot of horse drawn vehicles in use. Mass transit looked like the way to get around. Looks like everybody had the right of way.
Perhaps the oldest "home movie" that you will ever see!

Wow,
Lets see vehicles cut in front of trams like that these days. if there's a gap, any gap, they go for it.

Are the trolley cars electric? can't see any overhaed wires. Bit dicey if the power comes from the ground.

Those "cable" cars are called cable cars because down the middle of the tracks see the extra "line"? That is a recessed slot with a moving cable, the car clamps on to the cable to be pulled along. The tram cars in San Fran today still run on this same system I believe, at least they did when I was last there?

This whole thing with age is over-rated.

I didn't get any of the things I was supposed to when I got old.

Hmmmm.... Wait!

When are you old? Maybe I am not old yet.

Default Renault / Ford joint venture

Renault and Ford have joined forces to create the perfect small car for women.

Mixing the Renault 'Clio' and the Ford 'Taurus' they have designed the 'Clitaurus'. It comes in pink, and the average male car thief won't be able to find it - let alone turn it on - even if someone tells him where it is and how to do it.

Rumor has it though, that it leaks transmission fluid once a month, and can be a real b*tch to start in the morning! Some have reported that on cold winter mornings, when you really need it, you can't get it to turn over.

New models are initially fun to own, but very costly to maintain, and horribly expensive to get rid of.

Used models may initially appear to have curb appeal and a low price, but eventually have an increased appetite for fuel, and the curb weight typically increases with age. Manufacturers are baffled as to how the size of the trunk increases, but say that the paint may just make it LOOK bigger.

The Polite Way to Pee

During one of her daily classes, a teacher trying to teach good manners, asked her students

the following question:

'Michael, if you were on a date having dinner with a nice young lady, how would you

tell her that you have to go to the bathroom?'

Michael said: 'Just a minute I have to go pee.'

The teacher responded by saying:
'That would be rude and impolite.

What about you Sherman, how would you say it?'

Sherman said:
'I am sorry, but I really need to go to the bathroom.
I'll be right back.'

'That's better, but it's still not very nice to say the
word bathroom at the dinner table.

And you, little Johnny, can you use your brain for once and show us your good manners?'

Johnny said:
'I would say: Darling, may I please be excused for a moment?

I have to shake hands with a very dear friend of mine, whom I hope

to introduce you to after dinner.'
