Merry Christmas

Have a Merry Christmas Boys and Girls

And remember if you are going to drive over this festive period......

Take your car!

Oh and by the way, who has run a remote bleed system from their Jag brakes?

Anyone with photos of such a set up I can copy whilst I can still easily get to these bits.

Cheers

Steve

Paul

You could at least post a pic of the new workshop.

It would be good to see where you are going to spend a lot of your time in the next year or so - DoH

Anyone got any remote brake bleed pics. for me?

Cheers

Steve

Slowy, the garage is full of empty boxes and stuff, plus I'm waiting for ADSL to be connected and it's not much fun trying to upload pics on the mobile. Hopefully next week.

Santa's coming a bit late to me. Hopefully he will be here around Easter with a bright, brand new Cobra spewing out about 350kw.

Hey Baz, Santa is only a tad late for me, around the 3rd of Jan I should hear about my new tko600 appearing, here's hoping.

Bet you can't wait though!!

Now was it you that talked about remote brake bleed points to the jag rear brakes many many moons ago?

Sorry Stephen. Not me. I would be interested in that topic also. Hope you can find out who posted the information. Keep me updated.

I found the reference

Rebel.....you crusty ol devil - you talked about remote bleeds in a thread but did you fit these?

Now is my chance and having had to bleed under car I think it might be worthwhile.

Rebel1 12-29-2008 03:39 AM

Twas indeed me...damn, that'll teach me to read all the threads. :JEKYLHYDE

Tis easy job Stephen, replace bleeder nipple with a pipe fitting and run brake tube to where here ever is a easy place to get too. On outboard end of the line is a bleed nipple.

I've seen it done with flex tube (like flex brake tube) but I did it in 3/16 solid brake pipe. I just remove a rear wheel and the bleed nipple is on the underneath of the side rail above the drive shafts. Tis important to keep the bleed nipple above the caliper.

stephen low 12-29-2008 04:50 AM

Thanks Rebel

If I set this up it will be in ADR flex as that is what I've used on the input side.

This might just give me some flexibility if I have to drop a caliper off its mounting location and then I haven't opened the system.

I'm assuming the height helps expel air better.

What effect would air have if it was at the end of this remote bleed point but the caliper system was fully bled?

Rebel1 12-29-2008 05:10 AM

Stephen, air has no place in brake lines. Two reasons...it compresses so leads a "squashy" feel to a pedal. Second...air is a component for corrosion.

If your bleed nipple is above the caliper then you should be able to get all out of the system.

Using this remote bleed you will be able to bleed without being a contortionist or needing to put the car on a hoist or ramps.

I actually made a power bleeding thingy from a 2ltr heavy plastic bottle and some scavenged tube and fittings, which connects to my compressor. Obviously I use very low pressure...just enough to pump the fluid thru the lines and it works a treat. I have heard of folks using a similar device and just using an inflated inner tube to supply the air pressure.
