Rego Today
Hi All,
Well today was the BIG day and off I went to Vic Roads for my Rego Inspection and ITS OFFICALLY REGISTERED.
I cant believe it.
I took the day off so lots of driving today in store for me.
The Vic Roads guy was very grumpy when I first rocked up, so I thought he would try and find fault and reject my application.
First off he made a derogatory comment about my engineer and then he laughed at my valuation.
I was worried about my VIN no stamping effort as I mucked up one of the letters a bit and I thought he might reject it. But he didnt say a word and I kept my trap shut and only spoke when spoken to.
He just checked the VIN no and Engine no and made sure I still had all of my mirrors lights etc (didnt check if they worked) and didnt ask me to start it or anything like that.
All over with in 30 mins.
I am working up my nerve to drive it to tonights meeting for an "inspection" by the brotherhood. A bit more driving today to check reliability to make sure I cant make it there and back. Engine misses a bit under load so I can now drive it to a tuner to get some diagnosis/tuning now.
Anyway, I can relax now and take my time with paint and interior.
See you tonight (Melb members that is).
Rgds

Gregg
If you get to drive it for a fair whack of the day, let me know what you think about the comfort level of the seats.
You'll have probably put in more miles of driving than I've managed so far so it would be good to hear if you think the seats underpadded.
They are standard but will get retrim down the line and extra padding if needed.
Do be there tonight at the meeting and I will then get to see your car.
Cheers

thanks all for the encouragement.
Yes I'll be there.
Steve - yes lots of driving this arvo.
I think the seats they are comfortable enough but I think they sit you more forward in the seat compared to mine which are a deep bucket.
Even a shorty like me feels a little close. But that might be my pedal height. Will show you tonight.
What time you guys normally get there? 7ish?
Rgds

Most tend to start arriving 6.30 - 7pm, but I'll be there sometime shortly after 6pm I guess, Gregg.

Yes I think you're right. But I also think they dont like ICVs. His words were "Too many of these things coming through".
Mike - thanks, yes it was quick but I had 8 months to get ready for the chassis so I accumulated a fair bit of parts and knowledge (mainly from this site). Sorry I meant to catch up with you at the meeting so you could have a good look (i.e. under the bonnet etc), maybe next meeting.
Beejay - I think mine is maybe the first or second as I was speaking to Ian the other day and he was waiting on his VIN for a build he was doing. The NSW VASS engineers seem a lot tougher and more literal with the ADRs etc.
I must admit I am pretty impressed with the CR as most things fit well and in my limited driving yesterday it handles pretty well.
Just need to get my engine tune fixed so I can boot it without it coughing and spluttering.
The financial controller (a.k.a. The missus) has mentioned that she hasnt seen my budget spreadsheet yet. I think I'll have to remove a few bits beforehand :-)
She's pretty good though, reckons its better me in the garage than at the pub.
Rgds

You can send your PCM over if you like and I'll have a look at it (and tweak it too if you so desire)...

Well done Greg, hopefully I will not be too far behind you.
My nephew is who will be inspecting mine at vicroads so I don't expect too much trouble from them!

Thanks Plums for the offer.
I think I will have to pass though as I am suspicious of something like a faulty/dirty/blocked injector or faulty Coil under load etc.
Meaning, I think it would be hard to diagnose without being on the engine etc.
I might come back to you at a later date for a tune though.
On a positive note - it ran a lot better last night when I went for a spin - maybe my first 150K's has cleared some blockage.

Thanks Gav.
Sounds like you've got the Vic roads angle covered.
I had a look through your photo gallery - you've done a nice job - especially the plumbing of the brake and fuel lines - very neat.
I noticed your nice flush mount Reversing lights - are they from a donor vehicle or after market - I couldnt find any like that and went with a big ugly one. Can you let me know any details.
Thanks
Rgds
