Default Paint chosen!

After driving everyone crazy for ages trying to pick a colour scheme, I decided to do a test panel in my preferred colours.

The base colour is a VW black and the first wrecker I visited had a car in that colour, so I bought the bonnet and visited the paint shop with the other paint codes. A friend offered to paint it after hours in his booth at work. It came out even better than expected so I'm rapt.

A big thanks to Graeme if you're reading this!

Thanks guys. Gav, it looks white but it's actually reflex silver that you see on a lot of Golfs.

Nice! I'm going to do a similar paint scheme on my 67 Stang. Only the gray stripes will be metallic red and the pin stripes silver.

Nice... and good call might I add.

Just to stir the waters... Another option could be a deep dark metallic red for the pin-striping.

If I was going for a mod-boy-racer look - I'd go for a lime green (or fluro orange) pin-striped highlight.

Else, your colour choice is perfect for that is a classic 60s car with a soft "Chip Foose" touch!

Colours, like children's names are so personal, but I reckon you've nailed it.

Paul

Your colour scheme looks great, now don't go back on it mate else you'll be dithering forever!

A smart move going life size for the colour test, a bit like this test.

This bonnet is still hanging up against the side fence - ha.

Even had the painter call me to see if I was ready for paint, sadly not yet was the call.

Some time soon me thinks.

Paul

A sort of deliberate outcome too.

The missus and I did start with good old "Yellow & Black" but after she saw a few cars in that scheme she said too common & I thought??? WTF

Anyway her bosses Honda was parked next to her car one day and she had a small sample of the yellow on some tin Greg sprayed up and she made this link.

In flat light, like you fell for it, the dark blue looks black, but with direct sun exposure as you can see at the front corner roll down, it really comes alive and is very bright.

With clear on top it will liven up even more.

Shame I had to knock back Greg's paint offer at this time, but then it will happen down the track and more quickly for me as the car was prepared ages ago.

Just some finalisation preparation and it will be ready for paint in no time.

Looking forward to the weekend as I plan on being cobra focussed all weekend.

Cheers

Slo

Finally had enough of the dirty grey gelcoat, so it was off to the painters last weekend for a quick coat of black. Here it is coming off the trailer before all the bright work went back on. Big thanks to Greg!

Like the new flared front guards too.

Thanks guys, I'll try to track down some decals before Shelbyfest.

Also had some "corrections" made to the front end and it sits and rides really well now without needing to wind up the coilovers.

Paul, the car now has a nice stance. I'm glad the ride has improved for you. That front end was like a rock!

Thanks guys

I decided the Cobra needed something extra for Shelbyfest so I paid a visit to a friend who does vinyl wrap. With a bit more time he said we could've printed a set of meatballs/rondels - something for next year!
