Gregg, I saw a Porsche in a mag recently that was completely covered in silver reflective film. It was eye catching to say the least!

I had one of those vinyl, weighted body protectors but found that it leaked the sand weighting that was in it! I reverted to the use of a heavy blanket. It does not slide around too much. I am sure that there are proper covers that are available and other might suggest some, as they are essential.

Hi Gregg,

Ozishield has the templates for Classic Revival. Ask Terrence, he has them on his system, but not on the list yet.

Cheers,
Dale.

Hi Dale,

When I ordered them a while back he had them on but he doesnt seem to have them on now - weird. Anyway They fit great.

I was going to see how the Spats went on before getting the front kit. I think I will now. Thanks to you for blazing the trail for the CR.

I assume yours are working out ok?

Default Guard Covers

Greg,

You can get the Cobra fender covers from the US with a picture of the Shelby Cobra on them, they are $20.00 US.

Harry.

Merv - I wish I had the film all over the car some times - Most of the little nicks and scratches are from me not the road - first scratch I was so annoyed at myself I had to sit down for a while.

Do you have/use anything special on the mud guards when leaning in to work on it? I have some really soft lambswool seat covers that never got used. I am thinking of buying some proper covers you see the mechnic shops use? Are there Cobra ones around?

They do! Will see how much they cost to deliver. Probably more than the item price I guess. The ones I have seen here are pretty cheapo types. Any recommendations?

Hey merv, top 'o the morning to ya.. (at least it's morning here... )

It's a Keith Craft 482" Pond aluminum block side oiler. It also has KC's stage II CNC'd Ebok heads with one of his custom grind hydraulic rollers. It now has a tunnel wedge intake with a couple custom QuickFuel 750s.

Nite time here Dave. That is a big engine and I like those valve covers! My small block can never grow into one of those ...

Default Carbon fiber spats

Undy,
Your spats appear to be the same size as Factory Five sells.
They will be about six inches short .........the story of my life.
Much of the area that needs protection is located above these spats.

I have used the toughened film quite high up on the rear arch, and it is very effective. But when I have some time, I am going to make moulds of those arches, and then make up some spats in a carbon fibre and resin material.

And for the front fenders when working on the motor - these look good (in Australia).

Good find Merv.

Not exactly sure what polar fleece is but it sounds way better than the crappy foam backing on my last guard protector.

Cheers

This is one job that I have never really finished. I have the stoneguard 3M film which seems to work reasonably well. The stainless steel protectors for the Harrison are no longer available I am told (please correct me if I am wrong here). Guards from other cars won't fit.

Where do these carbon fibre sheets come from? What type and thickness is best to mould to the quite complex shape of the Harrison? Are there better materials, e.g., plastics?

Merv, there's a guy down here who does them in aluminium or brass (suitable for chrome plating). He did one set in stainless and was reported to have said, "never again!!". Doug Pearce is the contact if you want further details.

Thanks Paul. Yes the Harrison moulds are, I'm advised, in WA these days and I spoke to the current custodian and he was not interested in making them in SS. I can understand why. So I was thinking the carbon fibre or mouldable plastic.
