Default Help finding Mandrel Bends please

I am having trouble finding the 1.75inch mandrel bends I need to build up my sidepipes.

Most places I have found will do 2 inch but not 1.75 in the different radius needed to nest the inside and outside pipes nicely.

If anyone knows where I can chase this up I would appreciate it.

Specifically I am after 304 stainless, 1.75inch, 4 x tight radius, 4 x wider radius, for that flush fit look.

While I am here I might as well explain that 2 inch is not an option as I have the merge collectors already, and all of the exhaust gurus I have spoken to say that 2 inch will rob my bottom end torque and HP. I am only running 400 to 450 flywheel HP.

By the way......I do have some 2 inch 90 degrees mandrel bends (a full set, 8 bends) and the 4 inch collectors if anyone is interested, PM me.

Thanks

Hogster

For what it is worth I reckon they need to be 2" to look right exiting the gaurd. 1.75 looks a little skinney IMO.

Castleauto can't help, they were the second guess after Difilippo...........

As for the skinny thing, I will put a polished stailess plated at the exit from the body, all the shinynessness might make them look fatter.

Default Advice on Bends again

OK, so I've done some research but being from non-tube bending stock I still need some advice as there are no stock bends in Darwin I can look at.

Is a flush fit a simple as trying to find a combination of bends that have a difference in the centre line radius, the same as the tube diameter that I am using.

For example - Centre Line Radius of 56mm and 100mm gives me a 44mm difference.
The diameter of 1.75 inch pipe is 44.45mm so it should be almost perfect.

Am I missing something, just want to make sure before I buy a stack of mandrel bends that look crappy.

Thanks again.

I usually use 4" and 6" CLR or 3" and 5" CLR bends depending on what I can get. The new set of pipes I've built are 4 and 6. I use 2" tube so the 2" difference in the Center Line Radius means they snug up next to each other perfect.

You basically want the difference in the CLR to be as close to the diameter of the tube as possible for a neat stack.

The problem you are going to find is locating a supplier that has dies in the CLR you want. Most are going to be round numbers like 3" 4" 6" CLR etc

I reckon a CLR of 2" and 4" won't look real good. Wider radius bend look better in my opinion.

There are 2" tube with 4" and 6" CLR

These are 3" and 5" CLR in 2" tube

Cheers

Thanks Mike

I have added the list of suppliers that I have contacted with the Centre Line Radius (CLR) that they can bend 1.75inch tube. Hope this might help someone later

I can get 90mm and 132mm, so that should do the trick, It's only 2.5mm from perfect
