Default New Ford V8

New Falcon V8 could be as early as next year, and it appears that HSV days are numbered.

Ah, this will be good news for all those who have had to use a GM product in the meantime ...

DOHC - bit fancy for a Ford engine don't ya think?

That article quotes "Holden Performance Vehicles"... is that the same as HSV?

Nope, Not convinced. Says it's a twin overhead cam. Maybe just a stroked 4.6.

Ford was screwing with the Jag V8 for a while ... wonder wots going on there?.

Also read on internet Motorsport magazine that HRT could be folding as well, ties in with the thin ice story for HPV/HSV

I have a huge respect for ford engines but that looks very wide to me. As sambo said .. some familiar bits hanging off it.

I know...I know.... The twin overhead cams make it look wide .... but we are talking in a forum about cobras and engines to fit a cobra without extensive surgery.

Lovely engine HSV! I like the 'old school' look as well, with carbies or a Mas-Flo look alike. Most people see the car and not the engine but the owners probably spend more time around the engine. I guess that there is a minimum and a maximum power range that makes these cars driveable. Not sure what that is, however. The originals were lighter I think and had about 275HP.

All adds to the variety.

Your right Merv "not a pretty engine at all". Hopefully the new 5.0L will not be a similar size to the 4.6 and 5.4L engines currently on offer from Ford but a similar size to yours and mine.

Regards.

Now yours is pretty Sambo! Mine is the basic 302, black with no sugar - for registration.
