Looking for Jag front and rear end
Hi,
Just though i would put it out there that i am looking for a jag front and rear end including brakes. Also brake booster/master cyl. Im pretty sure i can make XJ6 series 2 or 3 work or XJS.
If anyone has any parts kicking around they want to sell (in NSW), let me know.

Hi Liam,
I've been watching this thread for a few days and have noticed that you haven't received any responses so far. I don't know what it is, whether Jag., front and rear ends are scarce or what.
I purchased mine two years ago from a guy in Goulburn who dealt in second hand Jaguar parts. I've made some enquiries on your behalf and established that he's no longer in business so that's the end of that line of enquiry.
There is a second hand Jagauar Spare parts dealer known as Jagara Spares at 51 Captain Cook Drive, Caringbah Phone 9531-8155. I purchased two Jaguar bolts to secure the diff housing to the chassis from him. Bit of a burgular as he charged me $10 each... dear as poison.
Give him a try if you have no other choice. That's about all I can help you out with mate. Good luck.
Baz.

Hi Baz,
Thanks for your help.
I got a quote from Jagworks at Penrith and it was $1750 for XJS front and rear including Lsd rear and 4 pot brakes. I think i can do better than this. I have my eye on a XJS rear and i am going to try and get it this week, but no leads on the front other than Jagworks. I reckon if i am patient i can get front and rear for $1000. Im not in a hurry with this as stipping, shortening and rebuilding the rear will take me some time, so i will just watch ebay and trading post until something good pops up.

Catscrappers in Adelaide might be of some help.
I paid $250 for my front suspension and brakes a couple of years ago.
Your nearest Jag club would be your best bet.

I paid $800 from Jagdaim in Moorabbin, Melbourne. Might give you a better guide for prices.

It seems to depend a lot on what you get. I want XJS parts that have the 4 pot calipers and LSD. XJ6 parts appear to be a lot cheap. There was an XJ6 rear on ebay that ended the other day without a bid at $250. It wasnt LSD so i didnt get it.
NAASTY. Was that $800 all up? What model was it from?

$800 all up.
XJ6 series 3 front and rear. Rear was a 3.07 open spinner. 4 spot calipers (front) are on series 3 xj6 and xjs. I later upgraded to a 3.31 LSD later in the build which I would highly recommend. The open diff was poor advice at the time. There is also debate about which is better to use, 3 or 4 pot calipers regarding brake bias. Better to ask someone in CCCNSW who's used both on their cobra before making a decision. Also buy either end as complete sub assemblies as Jag did use parts between series which will make it harder for it all to work, especially applies to the rear end.

Don't limit yourself to XJS, XJ6 S3 uses 4 Piston calipers also. I picked up my front end from Jagayre in Clayton Vic for about $400
You may want to look at picking up a whole car and parting it out if you have the space to strip it. There's some bargain S2 and S3 XJ6s out there. Shift the unwanted parts on eBay and maybe you'll make a few $$ out of it.
Cheers

Yeah i thought about buying a whole car as i can probably get one for $1000 and as you say sell off some parts. Problem is i will have to hire a car trailer to get it and then i dont really have the room to strip it and then i need to work out how to get rid of a carcas with no wheels. I decided it best just to grab a rear and front off ebay or wreckers.
Im not too worried about what car the parts are off provided the rear is a LSD as i know i will regret it if i use a single spinner. If i get an XJ6 front, it probably doesnt matter which series as i can buy reconditioned 4 pot calipers for not much more than the kit to rebuild them and i will be replacing brake discs anyhow. I just need to match all brake components from the same model

Try these guys. I've purchased a few parts off them over the years.

I was going to suggest that if you have the room then it might be a better idea to buy a complete car and wreck it out.

Just FYI Zedn
It cost me c.$1500 to upgrade my centre from 3.31 open to 3.58 LSD locally (Jagdaim in Moorabbin, Melbourne) - that price was only a couple of hundred over what it would have cost me in parts/conversion/shipping Dana44 stuff from the US. So if you can find a good centre at the ratio you want in first place, in my opinion it will be worthwhile paying a slight premium for it.
Good luck with the search

Not much help but...
Someone may chime in here and tell you who it is....
I met a member of the South Australian Cobra club who is a Jag specialist - rebuilding and restoring Jags. Think it is Chris..
Was told that he was a great resource for parts and obviously understood what we want as Cobra owners.
Perhaps Peter in South Australia the Cobra Club President can direct you. I will PM you his details.
Cheers
Bernie

Hi Liam
Try and find a Rear end off a S type Jag if you can as it doesn't need to be shortened.
Unfortunately they are very popular with hot rodders and are very hard to find.
I kept looking and eventually found one. I kept what I wanted and sold the rest.
It ended up being a lot cheaper than having everything shortened and looks much nicer.

Thanks everyone for the reply's and PM's. Yesterday i picked up my body and chassis and visited Doug Pearce in Victoria (thanks to Stify for putting me on to him). Doug sold me a fully reconditioned and shortened series 3 XJ6 front end and a rear that requires rebuilding / shortening for a great price. Even loaded it up on my trailer which was no easy feat.
The whole shebang is now sitting on a trailer outside my house waiting for my helpers to come around and help lift off!
